July 22, 2011 - General update - Whew its hot!!
I can't believe it! I got my period today. I haven't had it in 5 months, I thought I was going through the change. Damn! Now I have to start all over again on my calandar. Instead of going into post-menupause in Feb 2012, my new date is now July 2012. I personally think the stress and the heat got to me this week and it brought it on. This is crazy....
Im alittle better today, I actually slept pretty heavy these past few days which helped some. I went online to do a time management course on our learning management system today - it wasn't too bad. I still am planning on taking the classroom course on august 23. Jen's off until the end of next week (Sonja and I are very happy that is happening). Jen and I talked alittle bit about my documentation steno book and whats expected again. It was a better productive meeting and she listened to what I had to say (she came into my office this time). We had to talk more about our outsource company for Basic Life support classes. I got a meeting together for most of us in the department (myself, Jen, Diane, Bonnie, Michele, Judy and Mike Derme (from Buffalo CPR). Outsource means we get another company to teach the BLS classes within our hospital system. That means no more registration within our department - they do it. People call for BLS, I give them their #. Easy! It was decided by Rosanna (my previous manager who retired in Jan) and Mike Derme. This meeting is to clear up questions that the rest of us have. Im expecting a very productive meeting. Today being friday, its alittle more casual and quiet around here today. Haven't written much in my steno notebook today (just a few email trails and getting on our learning management system to do some learning plan stuff). Sonja and I went walking outside so we can get a hotdog where they have a outside vendor - but he wasn't there. Disappointing (hotdog + drink was $3.00). It certainly was hot out there. Michele's birthday was today and we had cake earlier (bosses gone, longer lunch..LOL!). refreshing pineapple/koolwhip vanilla cake, yummmm....Kelly made it, she's a great baker. You won't find me baking, I told Arlene yesterday that pepperage farm is what I would be bringing in. LOL!!
I can't believe how many days I have gone without running (even running). This is gonna be really bad on Tuesday (we are doing 3.5 miles). I need to get out there on Sunday morning to do at least 3.8 miles again (Im gonna have to scrap the 4.5 mile run until next sunday). I am so behind. I don't have any outstanding runs that I am training for. Now its just for the group runs and the 5K we have in September (Linda Yalem 5K). Back in 1990, there was Linda Yalem who went to school at Univ of Buffalo and we have this 5 mile bike path - apparently she was raped and killed so every year there is a 5K in her honor. For years, they didn't find the killer but one year they caught a man who they thought was the killer (this was just before DNA was used). Apparently this man was in prison for about 10 years. They then discovered probably about 4 years ago that this man was wrongfully convicted and they found the killer. I nearly fell off my recliner when I watched the news! This rapist was none other than a man who I use to run with at these 5K races many years ago (Im talking about the years I did more than 20 a year, back in 1996,97,98,99 - when the racing fees were cheaper). He even ran the Linda Yalem race too. Couldn't believe it. Anyways, apparently this man is now in a prison near Lake placid NY (way up North NY area). Locked up for life.
What I am doing for the weekend? Tomorrow I will be driving out to see the folks until 4pm (suppose to be hot but hoping Angola (along lake erie) will be at least 5 degrees cooler. Maybe I might go to the beach during the day for alittle while. Then going to dinner with my friend, Jen at Carabbas. I haven't journaled much about her since her big move fiasco a few months ago. She's been laying pretty low in my life since that frustration. We'll see what happens on Saturday. She lives downtown, I might convince her to take the bus and come to my house since the restaurant is north of the city. That would make things a lot easier. I'll talk to her later tonight. Sunday, If this humidity calms down and the temp lowers (even if we have alittle rain, it should be refreshing). I am going to try and run 3.8 miles again. At least get a base to get ready for tuesday nights run with the group. During the day, anything goes. My friend Jim wanted to meet for lunch but I think I might skip it this week and deal with him next weekend or the weekend after that. Hey! He cancels all the time because his wife is extremely sick with COPD and diabetic neuropathy. Im his friend, we meet for lunch so he can have some kind of social life. I listen to him and try being a good friend.
I need to get back to my salad eating. My diet went and took a nose dive. I've been eating crappy all week due to the accessive heat. Who wants to cook anything, its been junk. Not good for me. Eating that damn hospital food too in the cafe. Yuck! No wonder I feel so crappy. I just had the worst diarrhea a little while ago. I need to get to Wegmans and do some real food shopping on Sunday. It will be good to get back on track next week with everything. I heard next weekend its suppose to be back up in the 90's again. Im looking for nice 80 degree days for Sunday morning and Tuesday night. The rest of the week, well...that can go up to 90 if it wants.
I've been reading a lot on the kindle. I am reading Janet Evonovich book #14 (can't remember the title). My retired manager let me read #15. I have #16 and #17 on my books to download list. I'll do that this week sometime. Also, I started a counted crossstich project. The last time I did a project was about 15 years ago. These pair of eyes are not as good as they were at 30. I actually have to hold up the cloth to see where the holes are. LOL!! My hands cramp up after an hour working on it. Nevermind threading the needle (you have to use 2 strands to sew the pattern). It takes a few extra minutes to thread the needle, it use to take me seconds when I was 30! It usually takes a minute to figure out the center of the pic to decide what color to use first. Figuring out the center of the cloth, thats easy - just fold the cloth is 4's and you find the center from there. Counting the squares in the picture for that particular pattern, thats easy. What I usually do is try and do the same color first throughout the pattern, then go to the next, continuing until you finish. Sometimes you miss a section and you go back and fill in that particular color. Especially if the color section your working on in so tiny. Its best to just skip that extremely small area and fill it in when you work on the other colors in that same section (ex: if a section of that 1st color Im working on has only 2-3 squares). I'll try and take a pic of it and show you my progression, ok. Its gonna take at least 3 months to finish it. My mother has a a counted cross stitch pic of a goose that I did back in 1988 on the wall in the hallway. I'll try and take a pic of that when I go home and post it.

Just letting you know I read your journal. You better get out there and do the running. Make sure to take a lot of water with you and better get back to eating those \"delicious\" salads lol. When I was in the hospital I didn\'t mind the food, but when I went back in 2009 I hated it, especially raisin toast. Bleh!
I\'ve had to put my running schedule on hold because of the heat, too. I\'ve been using the eliptical and thought about running on the treadmill; although, I couldn\'t bring myself to go through that tedium boredom.
That was really freaky about the rapist killer. Some people just aren\'t right and are devoid of conscience. It is very difficult for people like us with conscience to understand them.
I hope you enjoy your trip to Lake Erie and have a chance too cool off a little.
Hi jenn ... I wanted to pop in and see how you are doing, sounds like you are very busy , agree with you the stress and heat can bring alot of illness and pain into our lives....
Also I wanted to thank you for the lovely comment on my journal about my sisyer in law Judy , and thank you for your support .... it means so much to me ..... i can\'t believ your Dad won\'t except your illness , my Dad and family are the same way , My Dad told me Lupus does exist, it is\'nt a real disease !
yes i \'v noticed too my eating , my diet went to ? : ) during this last heat wave , so difficult to eat healthy sometimes ... Sending you some love ... have a great week-end : ) Hugs & Prayers, Jobbie
