July 12, 2010 - Health update #2
Hello everyone, I received a call from my oncologist and asked me if I received the bloodwork script from their office. Apparently they need to take some blood prior to the spine biopsy. I haven't been home this weekend because I was at my cousins house sitting and cat sitting since friday evening. I am sure its waiting for me in the mail box. The interventional radiologist office called me to set up the appt. At first they had appts this week Wed, thur, Fri from 8-12 pm only, they also said next week would be good too. I decided to get this done first thing monday morning at 8am 7/19. I called the oncologist office and got the followup appt on 7/27 at 7:30am. (2 days before the nephrologist initial appt). I laughed at them because I tried to ask for an afternoon appt but their afternoon is 12-12:30pm. Talk about bankers hours. LOL!!! They said that they will be sedating me (good! I don't think I want to be awake for this...EEEK!! LOL!!!). I am feeling really good and I also worked my inventory job where I "stood, bent over, climbed a small ladder" for 4.5 hours at a bookstore. You'd think if I was in pain, I couldn't do that job. Something must be amiss with this whole thing. I am thinking they are benign cysts on my spine. Could be polycystic, could not?? Thats whats so confusing. I am a medical puzzle when it comes to this spine situation. I am trying to get a hold of my godmother but her and my uncle have been out of town for the week. My boss said if I can't get through to her she said that one of my nurse educators can take me. I will keep trying. Seems like everyone in my family is out on vacation (my cousin Debbie (the house sitting job), my parents are in NC, my friend Deb is leaving tomorrow, and now my godmother and uncle are gone). Worst case scenario is if my brother left for some out of town job (he hasn't in a while - but he will be going back out west in about 2 1/2 weeks) and I have to deal with the dog again. Thank god that didn't happen. I wouldn't have been available for Scout until later tonight. I am my grandmothers only lifeline because my parents are with my other aunts and uncles for their "adult" reunion (I am still a kid at 44, I will take that). I have to do her laundry at the end of this week. Reminds me, I need to get out to my parents to pick up her laundry that my mother did for her last week - its sitting on the table waiting for me. I need to get over there and check on things (even though my brothers been over there everyday checking on the house and their cat). I could see Briana now, she will see me and have a screaming fit right there in the hall way. That cat has a voice and when she meows she uses her full lung capacity and opens her little mouth wide..LOL!! My cousins 2 cats are pretty docile - Henry the grey cat has a high pitched meow for a male cat. He is very independent and won't lay on your lap. Willie, he is the bad boy - gets into things. He is also very affectionate and likes to lay with you watching TV. He loves to be petted and he is right there when you walk in.
I am just glad to have a weeks repreive from tests (except the blood work but I can have it done here in house anytime this week - without any rush). I am also putting in FMLA paperwork again for "intermittent" time off. Just to cover my tracks with all these dr appts and tests. I have to work on this today and fax it over to the oncologist office.
Love to you all!
