journalling after work improves work performance//
"If youre interested in an easy way to improve your job performance and boost your career, its time to start a writing habit.
A study from Harvard Business School tested whether taking 15 minutes at the end of a work day to reflect on that days work improved their performance
and found the participants tasked with daily written reflection did 22.8 percent better on an assessment than the control group (that did not write daily).
But wouldnt internal reflection by itself be enough to bolster performance? My speculation would be that writing things down would be more beneficial as the act of writing imposes a discipline
on us to stay focused,
Reflection forced people to process their days,
find patterns
and link actions.
... journaling employees didnt specify giving the reflections aslant - just whatever happened and what you think.
What we wanted was for them to reflect more on whatever they thought... from the day,

i am writing this on wednesday, dec 3....today is my first real day at nativity fast, no gluttony, shell fish veggies, fruit, water are allowed. no dairy. no anger.
i have 4 weeks of this to january 6. so i\'m avoiding things that piss me off, hopefully. how are you?
the idea is that disapline physically, does something great and transforming spiritually as well. have never tried a no anger thing. i\'m more of a go with the flow and do as you please and let it be kind of person and then carry a big stick and walk quietly.
Good luck on your fast! I\'m going to be going on a protein shake diet while Geo is on his shake diet not only for support, but also so there\'s no food in the house for us to eat.
I think the making connections thing is important Writing about your days forces you to think, and you\'re more likely to make connections. The smartest people in the world are the ones who see the patterns and connections. It\'s a good discipline! *HUGS*
Oh goodness! I wouldn\'t do well on any kind of fast thing! I wish you the best. Once you tell me I can\'t have or do something, my brain goes a bit wild and I literally crave that thing. I suppose I would misbehave and then be dissapointed in myself!! I hope you are able to do this. And then be proud of yourself when you accomplish it. The anger thing is going to be simpler than you think. Once you are mindful that you are trying to control a behavior, it clicks in your brain when you go to do that thing....and you will pause, and try to correct it. I can see where this would be a very good thing for my daughter to try!! LOL.....big hugs! xo
ha, darla i never figured you for a rebel. i do that as well. no idea why. i said to j that i was going to attempt the nativity fast, i know its pretty popular in eastern churches and pretty much the POINT of advent. would be cool if it works. my friend\'s aunt does it yearly and loses weight every time she does it so another perk. its supposed to get rid of POISONS, that is why shell fish is allowed and ordinary fish isn\'t. anyway. we ended up going out for burgers and i NEVER eat red meat. not good. i\'m still going to do it, but i\'ll focus a lot on the anger and gluttony part for this year and lets see how that does. i\'m actually trying to SKIP anything that i know pisses me off instead of getting in there for the debate. very rare for me. i enjoy debate. lol.
yeah, michele, i know list making is super important for intelligence and smooth living. i like to write anyway, but interesting.
larissa, i agree with you on the no food in the house things. i used to advocate that, people would mention a diet and i\'d be like, well did you box up all your food and give it to charity, or is it sitting there waiting to tempt you? that is back in my skinny days. for the first time in 12 years, i actually MISS my skinny days. its not healthy to be overweight and i don\'t recognize me in a mirror, except my face (sort of). lol.
Now that sounds like a really good fast!
My hubs fasts every Sunday.........rediculous as he seems to catch up with what he missed during the fast. But he still drinks coffee in the morning. Is that really a fast? Not cooked by me for sure. The only time I\'ve ever fast is during Easter and First Friday\'s. I think that is a very different thing.
But so good luck with your fast.
