John's Birthday!

Today is June 25, 2011. John's 53rd Birthday, woke up this morning feeling pretty good. Plans were cancelled as the movie we wanted to take the grandkids too wasn't playing and daughters wanted to be alone today. Feeling sorta lonely and then the phone rang it was the florist my mother in law had sent me flowers. So I decided to call Kristy and tell her I wanted to go celebrate with the family I felt I needed too. So we got ready and went across town then it started pouring down rain. We got to the restaurant and they had a spot right on the side of the building with the awning, so we figured great we won't get to wet. Well we get to the corner of the building and realize there is no awning on the front and it is landscaped so we have to run around to the front of the building needless to say we were slightly wet, LOL. It made it a little easier to see his twin brother, his family and mother. We ended up having a great time and hated for it to end. They asked us to go to their house but there was another stop we had to make instead. Ran to the store to get a chocolate cake and then off to John's Dad and Ms. Billie's. You should have seen their faces when they said come in and it was Kristy and Me. They were so excited you would have thought they won the lottery. Well we sat down and talked and cut the chocolate cake (John's favorite) and ate it like there was no tomorrow, it was delicious. We talked about how they met, his dad and Ms. Billie, he was divorced and she was a widow at 58. She was 65 when they met and he was going to Costa Rica and she wanted to go so she asked the Priest if it was OK for her to go since they weren't married. He laughed at her and said I think you know right from wrong and if you haven't learned it by now you won't ever. He laughed and told her to have fun. After dating a few months he called her on the phone and asked her if she wanted to get married today, she said yes I have to call in sick and she did. They went to the justice of the peace and (the man) couldn't write to well so he signed his name on the marraige license and flipped the page over to finish signing it. The used the man's wife and grandmother as their witnesses and they couldn't write either so they marked an X. Then they left for their honeymoon to Mississippi. It was late and the Hotel they were staying in had a restaurant but he hadn't brought a coat so they couldn't go in. So they rode around in this small town late at night and nothing was open except a convenience store. So he went in and got supper. So they got back to the hotel and she asked him we he bought and he told her potted meat, she said where's the crackers, so needless to say they had no supper. What a great start to a marraige. Then she tells us she brought her negligee the same one she had for her 1st honeymoon, I thought Kristy was gonna hit the floor, she looked at me and said honeymoon what were they gonna do. He turned beat red and we all busted out laughing. We were thinking one thing and she was thinking something totally different. Needless to say we had a great time. So here it is 10:40 and I am home alone and the phone rings. Kristy's electricity went out one street over from me I guess John didn't want me to spend the night alone , so she is on her way over. LOL. Turned out to be a BEAUTIFUL DAY after all. Andree'
