Jesus Loves Me The Senior Version

I have noticed that many of my SOTH have various health problems... some of them got even worse when our children became angels... and then the years are passing and we're getting older and aging and the natural ravages of time are happening... Sometimes I feel abandoned... I thought Cara would be here... and for awhile I'll be kind of lost in thinking sad thoughts... and then I'll think about it and I'll say to myself... well aging happens... its rough... but its not happening more so to me than anyone... and it would have happened whether Cara was here or in heaven... so pick yourself up and do the best you can... anyway...

a friend shared this and it touched me... especially the last verse... so I wanted to share it...
Senior version of Jesus Loves Me":  JESUS LOVES ME  Jesus loves me, this I know, Though my hair is white as snow Though my sight is growing dim, Still He bids me trust in Him. (CHORUS)
YES, JESUS LOVES ME.. YES, JESUS LOVES ME.. YES, JESUS LOVES ME, FOR THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO.  Though my steps are oh, so slow, With my hand in His I'll go On through life, let come what may, He'll be there to lead the way.
(CHORUS)  When the nights are dark and long, In my heart He puts a song.. Telling me in words so clear, "Have no fear, for I am near."
(CHORUS)  When my work on earth is done, And life's victories have been won. He will take me home above, Then I'll understand His love.
(CHORUS)  I love Jesus, does He know? Have I ever told Him so? Jesus loves to hear me say, That I love Him every day.
(CHORUS)

I can certainly relate and find that a sense of humor helps so much with this aging process and grateful that we are all doing it together.

Lovely version and thank you for sharing, Elissa.

Hugs,

My \"earth mother\" (as I call Mae) stuck to me like glue once she reached a certain age. Too bad she wasn\'t there in my childhood, in my teen years, and in my young adulthood giving me guidance. I couldn\'t even have a party at my house without \"inviting\"her because she was so manipulative! There she was, I was the only child. She actually SAID to me the day I had my daughter, \"Now WE have OUR baby girl\"!! Oh, please.

I always intended never to do this to April. Often as she grew up (in her teens) she would tell me that she would \"take care\" of me when I got old, that she would become a biologist and make money and provide for me, drive me places, etc. as I was doing for her. And my answer was always, I did not have a child to care for me, I had a child to care for; I am not your responsibility, it\'s the other way around. (Mae once said to me, when I was 38 \"I didn\'t have a child to be alone in my old age!\")

Now, of course, and ironically, I am alone. Completely, actually. And in the worst possible way. If I get sick, no one will hold my hand in the ICU. If I develop conditions in old age (so far, none, but how long can that last) that prevent me from driving, no one will come to pick me up and take me places: doctor visits, food shopping, etc. On holidays, no one shows up at the side door of my building to take me to their house for dinner, nor will they, ever. It is so ironic: Mae was a terrible mother, a narcissist, someone I did not trust in early childhood, someone I was literally forced to take into my home twice as she got quite old because it was the \"right thing\" to do. But she didn\'t even like me; in fact, I think she hated me. And here I, who strove to be the best mother ever and I think I was successful, wind up in worse situation than did Mae. What\'s wrong with this picture?

I say, God foresaw, God makes allowances, God sends me people when I need them, He knows. But it doesn\'t make this any less a nightmare.

This business of getting old really does suck. I don\'t mind the wrinkles or admitting my age. But I do not like the aches and pains and lack of energy. We used to travel on our own and were out in the morning, had lunch, went out sightseeing again, had dinner and went for a walk or to a concert. We walked several miles a day. Now we need an afternoon nap and are in bed early! It is just frustrating but I should not complain - for 68, I am still quite healthy!
Lisa always tried to convince me to move to Ottawa. She would point out condos. She said it would be easier for her to take care of us when we became frail if we were near. It took awhile to get my head around the fact that she would not be here to advocate for us. Andrew is very conscientious but the tacit understanding was that Lisa would look after us. I can relate to the feeling of abandonment.
I like the grown up version of Jesus Loves Me!
Take care,
Love and hugs, Marlene

I think of this song with a smile because of the adorable kids I taught in Sunday School (except for the all boy class of Middle Schoolers.) Anyway I love this song and think I will try to memorize it and begin my morning singing praises! It speaks to me, and like you, especially the last verse.

I love this! One of my favorite Bible verses about aging--is Psalm 92:14...\"They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green...\" I take that as assurance-that God will still use us for His good purpose--even when society deems us old and all washed up! Love, Donna

I only started noticing lately, people look down on you when you are old. I have been taking PT for my back and hip, for a couple of weeks. The young girls that give me my instructions for the exercises almost roll their eyes, if I have to ask them to repeat something. Add being fat to the equasion and you really are discriminated against.

I read this somewhere....

\"The golden years have come at last

The golden years can kiss my a$$ \"

BTY...I love the senior version !!
