Looks like I need to take care of my defaulted student loan before I can enroll in my BA in healthcare administration. thats ok. The company, DCS person (Amy) seemed to be extremely pleasant and easy to talk to. I wasn't too far into the default status (less than 10 days) so they negotiated that I would pay only $200 a month for feb and march. This will satisfy the default status of the loan. All this will be paid every 3rd of the month. They wanted to do this on the 1st but because of rent week - I needed to satisfy my home (which would make sure the check clears in 3 days). So I will have to make sure my rent check is sent out by the 27-28th of everymonth. thank god that I paid my car off - I think my payments would have been drastically lower.
I called the American Student Assistance 1st but they couldn't help me because of the default status. She said once I fulfilled my 6-9 month payments, then I would call them back and have a release form sent to the school.
Now I have to call Jon at Ashford University and tell him the not so good news on their end.
Because my printer still isn't working, paper jam. I had to print off some default paperwork from the company website, sign my name about 4 times. Then make a copy for myself (I only had to sign certain pages, thats it) then Fed x it overnight to DCS in Oregon. Cost me $38.00 for it. Went to a Kinkos. Brand new store across the Galleria Mall. Called Amy and gave her the tracking #, they will get it tomorrow. I needed this done before monday and the us mail isn't very secure, especially since I have my social sec # written all over the pages. We both agreed that we can't rely on the US mail, sometimes things get there and sometimes not. I will know more next week when they call me back (Amy will call me tomorrow and tell me they received it) - if its an over the phone type payment, that would be good because then I wouldn't have to send it. I am hoping its one of those EFT account transfers.
This is all kind of a bummer but I am hopeful that my credit report will show that I am in the recovery period of my defaulted loan and that whomever pulls it for job reference will see that I am working on it. Better credit report = better jobs. Its the only thing that is wrong on it. Everything else was taken care of earlier this year (pd over $5000 in credit card payments earlier this year). So....the prospect of going back to school is delayed until the fall.
Went to a Avon party last night, this one girl who is friends with my friend Donna was there. She said that I should fax my resume over to where she works. I did that today. Told Joyce at the BETC about it and she laughed about it, told me to mention it at Job club on friday. Sent out 6 resume's to various companies, this time I mailed them. Applied for a few online. I sent/emailed apps and resumes - about 10. Just gotta keep plugging away. I have to do better with the follow ups. So, I made a list of companies, then the other column on the paper I put a date (2 weeks from today - 2/8). To call them!
I start my 7 week computer class at the BETC on monday. this will give me something to do in the afternoons - at least until March 15. I hope to be working by then. We shall see. I like the fact that I go somewhere so I won't be twiddling my thumbs at home all day.
I know I promised that I would continue with my past journal entries. I will get to them soon.

turns out if I apply for any county, city or state jobs I need to get myself off default loan status, in 60 days I will be better, then I can apply. this friday they take the 1st of the $200 out of my checking then 3/3 another 200. we shall see what happens after that.
It seems like you\'re trying to do the right things. Do not worry about your credit score too much. Mine is somewhere in the 700s, but it hasn\'t gotten me anywhere in the job market. To me, a credit score is yet one more mechanism of economic slavery. I pay my bills, but I have nothing to show for it. I am always broke and if it wasn\'t for my parents, I would be homeless.
Keep plugging away and keep trying. Remain positive and know that good things are coming your way. Get to the gym and do it for you. Do it to improve your mood. Literally, the gym has saved my life by getting those endorphins going. I\'d probably be in the loony bin without it.
wow, I\'d love my credit fico score to be in the 700\'s. Right now its about 580 but it should jump about 50 pts after April 1. Also, if I want to apply for any medical billing jobs - they definitely check on the credit report. I actually had a company email me and requested my credit report. Guess what, I never heard back when I sent it to them. I guess they wouldn\'t be a great place if they are asking for a credit report. There are some lousy workers who have stellar credit reports. They\'ll find out. LOL!!
I am also so sick of scam transcription companies emailing me and wishing me to work for them. I take their test but I never hear back from them. Plus, people looking for personal assistants and its the same email. SCAM!!
Hope I make it up for job club tomorrow morning. I am turning into a lazy ass and not wanting to get up until at least 10:30. thats no way to live. I need to get up at 8 tomorrow.
I promised Dusty that I would get back to my life journals. Will post after I get home in the afternoon.
when you apply for county, state or city jobs there is a check box on the application \"is your student loan defaulted?\" If I apply now, I would probably get disqualified because of the 2 month defaulted status. Once April 1 rolls around, I will be off default and will be able to check box it \"no\"
