IVF free contest & our update
Hi Everyone,
I know it's been a very long time since I've been here...
Just wanted to let you all know about a contest I found out....You may or may not know about it but it's worth a shot to tell you about it. First & Secondary Infertility... Sher Institute is giving away 2 free IVF's (one in each category) for there I Believe Christmas contest. I heard about on Facebook from Resolve: http://haveababy.com/announcements/i-believe-video-journal-project/
As far us, I am trying to lose weight so I can try again next summer possibly with donor embryos. So far, I have lost close to 5 lbs which isn't really much but I have been trying really hard to work out daily and eat a little better. A good friend of mine told me about an app that you can use on your phone/computer (loseit.com) which helps keep track of your food and exercise. So far, I like it and I'm trying to keep the end goal in mind to keep me motivated.
We also expanded our adoption license to include foster parenting. Beginning in 2013, we will be open to taking in foster kids, preferably from newborn to 5 yrs old. Up until this point, we haven't come even close to adoption and we are constantly being passed up by birthmoms because we are 'too old'. Well, we're not getting any younger and the feeling of becoming a mother hasn't gone away. I still get really emotional and angry when I hear about a new pregnancy. I try really hard to not let it bother me but I'm only human. My hair stylist is expecting her second (from IVF) and I'm having a really hard time with it. She's having a girl and she already has a boy. Of course I'm jealous because she's got the perfect life or so it seems from where I'm at. Stay at home Mom but works nights and weekends. I know, the grass isn't greener on the other side. Don't get me wrong, I don't wish anything bad on her or the baby. Just wish that we would be blessed too. We know that foster parenting is a tough road and the ultimate goal for the child is to return home but the way I look at it is if we can provide a loving and healing home for a child even if it's for a short period of time, then it will be worth it. I know it will hurt a lot if/when the child does return home but I guess we will cross that bridge when we come to it.
