IVF: Even when it's good, it's bad!
Is IVF a heartless b!+@* or what?! I'm craning my neck around to look in the bathroom mirror, peering at my upper glutes...
And what do I see?
Huge, itchy, red welts, with knots underneath them the size of golf balls!
Yes, that's right ladies! I'm having an allergic reaction to my PIO injections, or more specifically the sesame oil itself. Awesome. And the nurse told me that I should expect the rash to remain for another couple months! Really?!?! Geez oh man, what have I done to deserve this???
Now, I'll be switching to Crinone suppositories. I'm nervous to make the switch, since everything has been going relatively well with the PIO, but I don't have a choice in this. Anyone have experience with the vaginal suppositories? How long were you on them? Do you have any hints/tips? Did you have side effects? (I'm nervous about the side effect of yeast infections, since I just got over mine, but the nurse assured me I shouldn't worry about that. Easy for HER to say...)
And as I was typing this journal entry, I just got a call from the pharmacy. The suppositories aren't covered by insurance. Amazing news . :-/

I am on both POI and vaginal suppositories. I haven\'t had any side affects.
I take a prometrium and an estradiol suppository 2 times a day 2 hours apart.
The worst I can say about them is they leave you feeling a little \"gross\" mainly because of when they dissolve in you, you get the discharge.
but in the grand scheme of this IVF process they are not bad.
The last time I was on Crinone I was a little itchy but never turned into yeast infection. I am sorry your allergic to the shots, hopefully you wont have much longer to on the extra horomones....BIG HUGS
wow! I didn\'t realize IVF was so complicated. You have so much dedication! good luck, I hope the rash goes away soon.
From what I understand, welts with PIO is pretty common (that wasn\'t helpful, I know!). I think someone advised me to apply ice before or after (or both) to reduce the welts. As far as the Crinone goes, there are really no tips or hints. Just don\'t freak out if you get some brown or red discharge -- that\'s pretty common, especially if you\'re using an applicator. Best of luck! This sucks, but it\'s worth it in the end.

My damn 2nd attempt of IVF did not work :( , so leaving that part behind and carrying on with life!
Yes IVF is a bitch sometimes......but also a chance for us to be able to have a child. Hope all goes well !
@MiracleHappens, I\'m so very sorry to hear of your most recent loss. Please let us know what you decide to do as you \"carry on with life\". Whether that means you\'ll attempt another round of IVF or find some other path, we want to support you no matter what!
That sucks! I am glad they dont have to stop your cycle or anything though.
