IVF - Do it now or delay it? Need advice!!!!
If you read my last journal entry, you know about my liver tumor history and my hesitation with meds so now I need some advice.....
I had a long talk with DH and he is worried and urging me to see my liver specialist. I really didn't think this was necessary but now I'm starting to rethink it. I was supposed to start femara last night, but there was a glitch at the pharmacy and turns out, my insurance does cover it but the pharmacy needs a preauthorization which will take 24-48 hours. Otherwise, I would have had to pay $300 out of pocket for a 10 day supply. I made an appt with my liver doctor but the soonest I can get in is next Thursday. So now I'm not sure what to do.....is it some sort of weird sign that I couldn't get the femara when I needed it? I don't know if I should wait to consult with my liver doctor before doing any of this or just go for it? I feel like a few doses of meds most likely won't harm me and I really hate to put IVF on hold yet another month, but I also want to be safe and smart about this. Part of me thinks I might be stalling, but the other part thinks I should have "all my ducks in a row." DH thinks we should wait until next month and also because he is sooooo sick and isn't healing that quickly and thinks he won't be able to "perform" in the cup when he needs to lol.
I appreciate all your advice, thoughts, feedback.....

Hmmm...probably good to consult the liver doc. Keep calling them and tell them the seriousness of the situation and how you thought one thing, but now that they have put you on more meds, you need answers now. Keep pushing to see if there is a cancellation. Postpone is another option, but less fun. Also, are you on BCP? Maybe the IVF docs could push you back using that...?
Although it totally sucks having to wait, I say get your ducks in a row. You want to be at your healthiest when you get that BFP and so a consult with the liver doc might be smart. Good luck!
Ha...I just posted a similar journal entry. I think I\'ve decided to delay one more month to get my ducks in a row. Looks like your dilemma is more serious than mine, so I\'d probably still opt to wait one more month. Better to make sure you have the green light from your liver doc and get Femara started on time (and be covered). Plus...DH will have a little more time to heal.
If you are like me, waiting is a horrible thought, but it may improve your chances of success. Good luck!!!
I totally understand! I would suggest you wait the one month. It\'s better to start your cycle with peace of mind that everything is in order to ensure success. I know is hard to wait. But after all your health should be your top priority! I\'ll keep you in my prayers!
I completely agree with Endowife!! Better to be safe than sorry. These might be little signs that are stalling only to make sure your properly advised before taking the meds.......for your health sake and your soon to be baby\'s health sake, I\'d wait and start next month!!
Prayers your way that there is nothing wrong, and I believe the peace of mind will also help :-) HUGS.
Thank you all! Endowife: I can\'t get in any sooner because he isn\'t in the office before next week and BCPs are totally out because they are what caused the tumor. I think I should wait too but I\'m freaking out because we\'ve already put this off for so long and I get so concerned because I\'m already 43 so I don\'t feel time is on my side here. UGH IF
I would hate to wait but your health has to be your first priority. Plus the extra stress not knowing will put on you isn\'t good. You are the only one that can decide what is best for you. Time may not be on your side put making sure you are ok is important. It\'s only one cycle. Make the choice on what bothers you the less.
Good luck.
I think RoxyD said it well. Not knowing is the key word. I would wait. Plus, you\'ll have your support person in good shape again. Sorry, I know it\'s hard.
I agree with everyone on waiting. You need to put your health first. Better safe than sorry. Plus with the pharmacy mix up and the timing of the specialist it seems like everything is pointing for it to be next month rather than this month.
Hang in there and prepare emotionally and physically for next month
Agree wit the ladies, wait until it is right.. good luck!!

Based on past personal experience hold off until things are in order. I KNOW it sucks to wait but it\'s just as painful to go ahead and then have a bad or cx outcome because there were complications.
Aww so sad you\'re struggling with this!! I sent you a hug being excited before I read this :-( I do agree with everybody about getting your ducks in a row. Even if it ends up all being fine, you don\'t want to look back and think \"well it might\'ve worked if\" just incase. So sorry that waiting is a possibility, but we care about you and want you to stay healthy so you can get that BFP :-)
