IVF Class
Wow....can I say I am a tad overwhelmed!!!! My RE had to prescribe me some xanax so I could sleep at night. My mind is totally consumed w/ this IVF process. I AM ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY SCARED OUT OF MY MIND! The class was really informative and the nurse was very witty but strict w/ us:) No more caffeine, alcohol...you know, all the fun stuff! So DH and I were sippin' on some Sprite on our ride back home. Acutally, DH stopped at Starbucks to try out the decaf coffee and I took one sip and decided I wasn't going to feign for coffee that bad...it was nasty to me. Meds will be overnighted and I will get them all tomorrow. I just can't believe I will start Lupron on MOnday!!!! I can't believe it's here. So, my schedule all depends on AF well I guess it doesn't because my IVF nurse said to call her if I did not start AF by the 16th. I asked her what would happen if I didn't. She said I would come in anyway and they would do b/w then if my levels look good and no cysts, I would start stims. I'm still unclear on alot of how this all works but they are the experts and have been doing this for many years so I need to just trust that they are giving me the right instructions. So, with that said, I start Mon on Lupron then take my last BCP next Fri (10th) should start period 3-5 days later and then start stims on the 19th and take them until the 26th, ER may be around the 28th and ET on the 30th or May 2nd depending on day 3 or 5 transfer. Should know if I am BFP by mid-May....whewww! The stims they are putting me on are Bravelle and Menapur (sp?). I used Bravelle w/ 2 IUIs and had a good response to the meds so I was pleased w/ this...not sure about the Menapur. Kirk and I also had to take some kind of antibotic tonight....RE said something about it was to prevent bacteria???? Okay so maybe I made that up but we both had to take 4 tablets of Zithromax tonight after dinner.

This is so exciting! You are going to do great! Do trust the nurses and doctors. Something that I started doing that helped was I kept a log of what meds I had taken (actually I made up a checklist for each day). The process is stressful enough and I would forget so it just removed one stressor for me. I believe the Menapur just makes sure you don\'t ovulate...but that may be something else. I took it. Trust them, they know! I am so excited for you! BFP here you come!!!!
I was really overwhelmed after my IVF orientation too. It seems like a lot of stuff to remember. I keep a log like laraM suggested to help me remember all the meds. I write down what time I did things, so if I get that panicky feeling like I forgot something I can look and see that I actually did it and when. I have also programmed my Palm phone to remind me about things too. I think Bravelle, Menapur, and Repronex are all the same thing: FSH and LH combined. Take it one day at a time and you\'ll do fine. I\'ll be starting stims right around the time you finish with them. Big hugs and good luck with your cycle!
GOOD LUCK GIRL. I know it all seems overwhelming. My RE always tells me to stop stressing and let her worry about everything. Trust in your doctors. They will get through this. I am so excited that you have all your dates lined up and you are ready to go! They called in my Provera to make AF happen so I have to go pick that up today. Hopefully I will have hysteroscopy next week and get my schedule!

I know it is alot of info all at once so the more you can try to stay \"present\" the better. My Dh and I keep saying one step and day at a time through this IVF. I am scheduled to start stims 4/17 but I need to have a hysteroscopy surgery first (which is yet to be scheduled). I gues it is good that we are taking this one step at a time with that looming! Anyway, if all goes well, we might be cycle buddies!
My DH and I were both on antibotics before our IVF\'s and FET\'s, and you are right to get rid of any infections & to help prevent it. It all seems like a lot, but just take it all in and make yourself notes or lists of when to take things and just do what they say. Good Luck! I am here if you have any questions maybe I can help ya.

I understand the being freaked out part. I started my stims last night. I was very scared about the shots, but I did not feel a thing. I followed the advice of many on this board and numbed the spot with ice. It was very quick. So far, so good. My ER is scheduled for the week of April 13, so I am a little ahead of you. My RE also has my husband and me on antibiotics. They said it was to make sure nothing is introduced into the lab that can hard the embryos. Best of luck to you. Great news! I still drank coffee 2 out of the 11 days of meds. Organic 1/2 decaf /2 reg. My doctor said it was fine. one cup here and there was fie and taking microand physio at the same time I needed it! Women can have a bacteria in the vagna area that is toxic for egss when retieving and transerring. I did not get antibiotics before and was concerned but I guess thins went well. Needles did not bother me. Take your time mixing the meds. You will get use to it. I wish you allthe best! BFP here you come!
Shannon I am so excited for you. The IVF class is overwhelming, but try to take it step by step. I know for me, putting each kid of meds in a big bag made it a little bit easier. I just finished my first round of IVF and it was very similar to an IUI w/stims, with just a few more shots. Good luck and sticky baby dust to you:)
