IVF again??
Hi everyone!
I just joined this DS group today and I'm looking forward to the comraderie. I am disappointed after a failed IVF a few weeks ago, due to an embryo that wouldn't grow - transfer was cancelled. I am 42 years old, but I hear that it is typical at this age. Just trying to stay positive and hopeful. I have a wonderful, supportive husband, family and friends and we are trying to decide whether to try another "expensive" cycle - my insurance stopped covering it, so it would really be a sacrifice! I did the Embryo freeze and only 1 out of 3 survived the freezing process, and that one didn't grow. At my age, I have to decide quickly! We are thinking about trying a more vigorous fresh IVF transfer cycle?? Any one around my age out there and know what I'm experiencing? Would love to hear from you!

Hello, I am new as well. I just posted this but I really don\'t know where it ended up in cyber space so thought I would copy it to you since you are new as well.
\"Hello. I just joined today. It\'s 4 am and I can\'t sleep. I have been uncomfortable since my retrieval on Wed. I think I have a mild case of OHSS. I feel as if I have eaten a Thanksgiving meal and need to wear a muu-muu everyday. Needless to say, my husband is tired of seeing me in the same 2 Gap coverups since they are the only thing that is comfortable.
Anyway, I\'m ready for the transfer on Monday. I\'m excited since it\'s a blastocyst transfer (meaning Day 5) and we had 8 fertilized eggs. This is my first IVF cycle after trying for 5 years and having 5 IUI\'s.
In all, IVF hasn\'t been bad. The shots don\'t hurt, the drugs are alot but I just keep a schedule on the counter. The only thing that is bad is this terrible pain I have after the transfer and the uncomfortableness I have which makes me sooooo lazy...and I hate being lazy.

I am 37 years old and I know what it\'s like to be coming out of pocket for these expenses. My RE is not that expensive...around $12K for the entire thing. Some other Dr\'s are up around $25K. I know lots of people that have had success with mine so he was worth a first try. I know there are some excellent clinics in NV and even had some friends fly there from FL to do their IVF! I also found the website www.fertilitysuccessrates.com. I\'m sure this is some sort of paid advertisement but it breaks down clinics by age.
I wish you all the luck in the world. I have been doing my finest praying lately. I have a wonderful bible study group that prays with me as well. Afterall, it\'s completely out of our hands anyway, right?
Like I said, I go in on Monday for the transfer. I\'m excited to see how many of the 8 eggs make it and how many we\'ll have to put in and to freeze. If you need anything, I\'ll be lying around like a lump on a log! LOL!!!

It was so nice to hear from you - I wish you the best on Monday - that\'s exciting - WOW 8 fertilized eggs and blastocyst! I hope that it won\'t be as uncomfortable this time - that\'s no fun. It\'s interesting how everyone is different - some people like you said that they had discomfort after the retrieval and transfer, but I didn\'t have any after my retrieval?? It will go well:)
Oh, thank you for the website - that was really fascinating and it was good to know that my Doctor was on the top lists, so I guess that\'s a good thing. And you\'re exactly right about who is really in control - I have been continuing to pray and be ready to accept whatever God\'s will is. Let me know how it goes and hang in there!!

Hi, I did 4 IVF cycles at age 42. I had quite a few embroys and they seemed to be of a decent grade. 4-5 were transferred back each time and I always got BFNs :( I figured it wasn\'t quantity that was my issue, but it must have been quality. DH and I decided to move on to donor egg IVF and it worked the first time. I am now the proud mother of a 6 month old daughter. I wouldn\'t have been ready to do a donor egg cycle if I hadn\'t tried so many times w/ my own eggs only to have it not work. I am very much at peace (very happy actually) with my decision to go the donor egg route. I know you have to be emotionally ready to do something like that, and it isn\'t for everyone, but I just thought I\'d throw it out there as an option to consider. Sorry about your BFN and good luck to you whatever you decide to do.
