Its been a long time, so much has changed, so much has stayed the same
Its been a long time since I've been on this site. I used to have friends here to talk to and discuss life and whatever. There were people going through the pain of divorce and it was good to feel community. I wrote here, but mostly for myself.
So to bring this up to date, this past October I lost my last brother, Mel. He and I weren't close, I didn't really like him much, he was very judgmental and snobbish, so I didn't have much to do with him. He was abusive towards his wife, his kids, lots of people. Yet I loved him and in some ways miss him. So with him gone. along with my other two brothers David, died April 2001, and Jerry, died Dec 2010, I now have my two sisters still alive.
In December I lost my job, was let go. It was coming for a while, they wanted to lower payroll and hire entry level people. worked there for almost 8 years and did lots of good things, but my health has been poor and I saw the handwriting on the wall.
In January my daughter had a manic bipolar episode and ended up in the hospital. She was living near Orlando so I spent a week there visiting her at the hospital every day and wanting to do more for her. Since then she has moved out of the house and I moved into a 2 bedroom apt with her, here in Jacksonville.
After she got out of the hospital, my older sister Bev went in for open heart surgery. She was not doing well and would not have survived without this. So my daughter and I went to ft Lauderdale for a week to be with her. It was terrible, she had multiple strokes, did not wake from surgery for several days, and we were preparing for the worst. We prayed, and she was saved. But still is doing poorly and we still are worried for her.
Since I lost my job, and at my age, I don't deem it possible to get any where near a comparable job for comparable pay. So I signed up for social security and am getting that, and will try to live on that. I have also registered for unemployment, so we will see how that goes.
I filed papers with the court to modify alimony. Actually I want it eliminated, as I can not even live on the soc sec I get. Hearing is coming next week. But I know the ex will fight me, she is pretty horrible to me. I am hoping the judge has mercy on me.
I've been depressed. Terribly. I do volunteer at the church, go there two or three times a week, but other than that my biggest outings are to the grocery. I feel pretty isolated and cut off from most. There are a few people that want to be friends, but I am so down its just not right at this time. That's actually why I came back to this site today. To see if any of my old friends from here were still around. But nope, all gone.
So we'll see.
