it's still there
Although things are better than they used to be --- I wish we could do more as parents to address the issues with our boys.
It's strange but our middle one seems to be doing better than he ever has in life (on the surface). He appears happy, he's even tempered, he is doing exceptionally well in school, he has a wonderful and adorable girlfriend, and he's become so much more responsible. A pleasure to be around and yet --- he unloaded on us a few months ago and shared that he has a drinking problem. Prior to that confession, months before, we knew he was partying because of his behavior. Whatever the case, he has a problem but informed us that he doesn't want help.
Youngest son, T-Man? Behavior better but not where it would be if he were sober. I know he came home very late and refused to go to school today. It breaks my heart. I'm seeing signs (as far as I know I haven't seen him under the influence) that reminds me that he's still at it. Fortunately, our relationship is much better but it doesn't change the fact that he still smokes pot and drinks or whatever else he may be doing.
T-Man has a court date coming up in two weeks. It's for a minor misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana. He was in the metro parks with his friends and the police found some in the car they were in so all of them were charged. He felt it was unfair because he said it wasn't his so he wanted to either plead guilty and be done with it so he wouldn't have to go back to court or plead not guilty and be done with it. I checked with a lawyer friend asking if T would need a lawyer since the courts turned T down for a court appointed one. He said no but that T needs to plead no contest and ask if he could attend diversion (so that this would be wiped from his record). He advised that T be respectful and admit he has a juvenile record if asked. T said that he isn't going to ask for diversion. Hubby talked to another lawyer and suggested that T make an appt. prior to the hearing and plead his case with to I'm not sure with. I told hubby that I don't think it is a good idea to over step our bounds and help him too much. Not sure what is going to happen. Just hate the fact that we can't do more.
