It\'s Rodeo Time

It's rodeo time in here in Houston.  I am not much of a rodeo fan but there are a few events I do enjoy watching.  My favorite is Culling.  It's done two ways; with a dog or with a horse.  A sheep dog will be given a comand to seperate one of the sheep (or a cow) from the flock/herd.  It's fascinating to watch these extremely well trained animals do thier job.   When a cowboy does it on a horse it is spectacular!  The quick movements of the horse and man together as they expertly seperate a cow from ....it's support system...speak to the years of practise that had to go into this. In I Peter 5 we find these words, "Your advesary the devil, like a roaring lion, walks about seeking whom he may devour."  Lions are the ultimate predator.  They stand majestically in the middle of the African plain and find the biggest, healthies antelope in the herd and just run it down...NOT!  No, the lion hides in the bush, sneaks up through the tall grass, and find's the antelope that is...weak...tired...sick...old....seperated.  That's who the lion...or dragon...devours.  And the devil, the lion and the dragon have been doing this for a long time! What I find most sad about this is that the animal, or person, being culled doesn't realize it until it is to late.  So I have been asking myself, and  perhaps you should too, "Am I being culled?"  Do I find myself alone, being lead away from my support group, weak...vulnerable?  If I ask that question frequently during my treatment I will be better able to protect myself from being "culled." I praise God for my support group; My wife, my church and DS.  If any of you see me wandering away...remind me about the lion. My other favorite event at the Rodeo is the greased pig chase.  They let out a small greased pig and a bunch of kids try to catch it.  Nothing fancy there...its just fun to watch! God bless,Pastor Rob
