It's Monday...again! Boo Hiss!!

First time in almost two weeks that I have had to drag myself out of bed!! Too little sleep due to company last night. These were my friends that have made the successful transition to be our friends. Love them dearly and had not seen them for any length of time since the summer, so it was great seeing them, but 7 hours of sleep is not enough for me at this point in time. Still finding that I need a solid 8-9 hours to wake up feeling fresh and ready for the day. And again, it's Monday!!! Short week this week as I have my colonoscopy scheduled for Thursday and have taken Friday off as a precaution. I have to admit that I am concerned about this colonoscopy. I am the exact same age as when my Dad died of colon cancer. The nurse in me reminds myself that my last one, 8 years ago, was clear and colon cancer grows very slowly so I am likely to be fine. The negative person in my head reminds me that as a first degree relative of a colon cancer victim, I am supposed to be screened ever five years, not every eight years!! Need to tell that negative part of me to shut the hell up!!! It is what it is and I can't reverse time.
At the same point, I am reaching the two week mark and having read so many posts that contain the warning (or story) "I was able to quit for two weeks and then....". I am a little concerned about that as well. What is so magical about the two week mark?? This I will have to pose to my group!!!
Just need to finish my coffee and adjust my attitude. This week is going to have to be a one day at a time kind of week. I do not want to drink, just want to get past Thursday!!

I used to believe that because my Mother died an alcoholic at 42, that was my destiny too. Almost was. I miss her, but I\'ve also now know that my life need not take that path. Took many years and some long overdue grief counselling to understand more about our relationship. There\'s no time limit on grief and I always say great grief is a result of great love.

Colonoscopies are a regular part of my life too. That you\'re taking action to do what is in your power to do with checkups, and doing your best not to drink is the work that will go towards good health. Hope it all goes well for your scope on Thursday and you get the all clear.

Hi There,
I am a nurse fairly new to recovery. And I have never posted on this site. So I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this message . I am wondering if I could chat with you about a couple issues regarding recovering nurses?
Thank you! Songbird 458 P.S I think us nurses overthink because we know too much about the medical field ! Just had my \" plumbing looked at everything was fine\" I am sure yours will be to.
