It\'s been a while!

Well I have not written in my journal in a while so I thought it would be healthy to give an update for my own sake and my friends.  I have been on lamictal for several months now, and it has been a godsend for me.  I have been able to establish a balance in my emotions and my condition seems to be getting better. The only problems I seem to have is with my memory and concentration every now and then.  I am on Kalanopin also so I think that is what takes the concentration away and memory. I need to try and stop taking then unless I have too.  I am afraid though because my body is very immune to them and coming off or even reducing my dosage can be dangerous.  For the most part my progress is a hella of a lot better than it was 3-4 months ago.  I must add I have been working out and taking a supplements approved by the FDA called IntraMax it is 100% organic and it gives you all the vitamins and minerals your body needs to function well.  I have also been making a budget with my SSDI for the months to come along with things I need to accomplish such as seeing friends working out etc.. I am somewhat scared in a scense because my Medicaid runs out at the end of this month, I am trying to reapply but I doubt that they will give it to me. I don’t understand how you can be on disability but not be insured for 2 years.  There are absolutely no insurance companies that will insure someone that is bipolar even if they exclude the disorder and just insure you for other reasons such as cancer / heart disease etc.. So I have made an oath to myself to just try and be as healthy as possible if I am not going to have insurance. I mean there are millions of other people that have it worse than me, I seem to be in pretty good shape at the moment but the way the world is today there is no telling when that can change at the drop of a hat.  Well going forward I pray that I can keep my progress up with my mood and health.  Also if you are reading this pray for me that I will get to keep my Medicaid till Medicare kicks in , in 2 more years. Just incase something drastic happens.  Oh also by the way I just bought some Tickets to see Nine Inch Nails in August as long as I am still kicking and making it I am very excited to see this show. I went 2 years ago and it was probley one of the best times I have ever had in my entire life.  Trent Reznor is probley one of the most talented artists of this century.  Well wish my luck with my health. Keep the prayers that I can keep some insurance. Thanks everyone for being my friend.--Nick

Doesn\'t this system suck?? I am too on SSDI and cannot get Medicare for one more year.. I applied for badgercare, three types of insurance and I cannot get any due to my bipolar.. So here I sit unable to get insurance to see a MD for that disorder that the government says I have.. WTF??
I too am very stable right now and I just tell myself that a hospital cannot turn me away if I have an emergency and then I will just claim bankrupt if I cannot pay the bill..
I dont\' want to do that, I would rather pay for insurance, but no one will let me..
Have a great day sweetie..

Oh geez nick! that is horrible that you cant get on insurance when your already on disability! Doesnt make any sense to me. When I was awarded SSI, my Medicaid picked up automatically. The thing i think that mattered or not with getting medicaid is that you had to claim a certain amount of rent that you paid. Even if you didnt. I dunno. Thats how it works here in MD. Congrats on taking care of yourself and staying healthy those are the best things you can do for yourself.

My pdoc told me Klonopin definitely affects memory and concentration.

Nine Inch Nails! It\'s been a while. I was into \"Close.\"
Memory loss is a concern. I found myself buying thing in duplicate a lot, and forgetting some fairly important stuff. I\'m thinking it was the clonazepam, but I was abusing it at the time. It\'s been a year, and my memory\'s improved. I put everything into the Google calendar now.
Check for free clinics around you. You can get your psych care for free. You may wind up on old-tech medication, but often times it works, and it is cheap. Cheap is good.
Let me send you a link to a web site which covers SSD and mental illness.
