It\'s been a while...
I haven't posted a journal entry, or been on the forum for a while. I've been dealing with taxes, I wrecked my car (no injuries), I'm still dealing with my daughter's affairs (oops, that didn't come out right), and I needed some time away from the forum. But, I have frequently thought about my friends here, and greatly appreciate the hugs and expression of concern. Today my granddaughter and I went to the cemertary, and for the first time we sat and talked as if we were at home. We both miss Libra but we were at peace sitting by her grave and talking about my granddaughter's future. She will be 20 next Tuesday, and is feeling like she doesn't know what she wants to do in life. She is studying to be a teacher, but is not sure if that is what she wants to do. She is also interested in being a fire fighter. I suggested she go to the fire station and talk with the firemen, get information about what preparation is required, tour the fire house, slide down the fire pole, and generally get advice from them. I said that it is common for young adults to not know what they want to do in life, and even those that focus on a particular major, often end up doing something completely different. My advice was to do something she loves. We are planning on going back to see my daughter on Jessina's birthday, and maybe have a picnic at the grave, with cake. This will be Jessina's first birthday without her mom, and she wants to share what she can of it with her.

I think it\' great how you are encouraging Jessina and helping her through this time with patience and advice. I think you are spot on about visiting the fire house and all. A lot of people would have just told her \"no way, you\'ll get killed, you can\'t do that...\"
I\'m glad you are OK from your car accident. May peace be with you...
Sounds like your doing better and helping your grandaughter with her inquiries. She should do what makes her happy and a career of love is just what she needs. I hope her birthday goes well. Happy thoughts. Hugs.
John, you can\'t believe how good it is to hear from you! :-) I understand exactly what you mean about spending some time away from the forum, I felt like that after returning back from NZ after celebrating what would have been my Dad\'s 70th birthday. It is a good feeling of peace when you get sit by Libra\'s grave like that and just talk. It feels like all those little steps forward are working, if that makes sense.
It sounds like Jessina is a very sensible young lady, and with you by her side she can\'t go wrong. I am 46 and am still wondering what I would like to be when I grow up!!
I am sorry about your accident but relieved to hear that you suffered no injuries. Still it can be a nasty shock and with all that you are going through at the moment, it is just another thing to add to the stress.
Much love to you and Jessina. Vicki (Tahnee) XX
I can just imagine in my mind\'s eye you and Jessina sitting there in the grass, the sun shining and Libra hugging the two of you with that warmth from the sun. The three of you, how peaceful.
Glad you\'re doing okay John and have come back to let us know where you are in life at this moment. You know we worry about you, right?
Take care, enjoy your days with Jessina, you\'re a good Grampa....Love to you, Melody
It is so good that you and Jessina have each other - to comfort and remember - what a lovely picture that puts in our minds of you and your granddaughter with Libra having a chat about her future. I think there is a huge amount of pressure on young people these days. Wish this focus always on the future could be taken off a bit so people find their own creative way. I have little times off from DS - as it can become very demanding - and you start to feel you are letting people down if you dont return hugs and messages. I think it is really difficult, but terribly important to have time out. Otherwise it just means someone leaves altogether - I have seen several people give up because of the pressure. A few weeks ago my puter gave up the ghost and I had time off and was amazed how relieved I felt - I learned from that and am pacing myself now...take care John and stay with us..:) now and again if not more....hugs and love Cathrynn XX
