It\'s been a while...
I haven't posted a journal entry, or been on the forum for a while. I've been dealing with taxes, I wrecked my car (no injuries), I'm still dealing with my daughter's affairs (oops, that didn't come out right), and I needed some time away from the forum. But, I have frequently thought about my friends here, and greatly appreciate the hugs and expression of concern. Today my granddaughter and I went to the cemertary, and for the first time we sat and talked as if we were at home. We both miss Libra but we were at peace sitting by her grave and talking about my granddaughter's future. She will be 20 next Tuesday, and is feeling like she doesn't know what she wants to do in life. She is studying to be a teacher, but is not sure if that is what she wants to do. She is also interested in being a fire fighter. I suggested she go to the fire station and talk with the firemen, get information about what preparation is required, tour the fire house, slide down the fire pole, and generally get advice from them. I said that it is common for young adults to not know what they want to do in life, and even those that focus on a particular major, often end up doing something completely different. My advice was to do something she loves. We are planning on going back to see my daughter on Jessina's birthday, and maybe have a picnic at the grave, with cake. This will be Jessina's first birthday without her mom, and she wants to share what she can of it with her.
