It's been 6 years and things are changing...a lot!
Hi to all! Joined 6 years ago and so much has changed after 20+ years with CREST (limited cutaneous scleroderma..) No longer climbing, biking, or exercising, and praying it's temporary, as I get very depressed. In the last year, I've lost 20 pounds, and I'm now down to 115. I have bouts of anemia due to probable internal bleeds from "Probable" AVMs. All upper and lower scopes come back normal, but they can only do a sigmoidoscopy, due to GI torsion. It takes about 2-3 months for my iron to come up. I am never hungry and when I attempt to eat, I have to drink lots of water between bites or I experience a lot of discomfort in my lower esophagus, and throw up occasionally. I am seeing a new GI doctor soon, but I'm really scared of how malnourished I've become. I can't get more than 600-700 calories down a day. I am pre-diabetic, so I can't eat more starches. I follow the GERD diet and protocols with the exception of one cp. of coffee/day. GI symptons got better when I went off PPIs. They gave me uncontrollable diarrhea. I have been on 6 different GERD meds and they all work for a while, then all the PPIs become ineffective or have horrible side effects. Does anyone know what tests should be done to diagnose whats wrong with me, in terms of swallowing and occasionally throwing up? I want to be prepared for my new GI visit on the 30th. But, hey, it's almost Christmas and I want to enjoy the day....
