It's a miracle -

Addiction is a baffling disease.  So - I try and not question it but sometimes...... I can't help it.
How does one explain the miraculous change in a son who once was spiraling so out of control that it was hard to fathom him recovering without being sent away for treatment or jail for a long time? Answered prayers is the only explanation I have.
Last fall my husband arranged for our youngest son, T-Man, to go to a tech college that has an awesome reputation for kids who aren't interested in traditional education. The school has forestry, eco tourism, firefighting programs that kids, like T, embrace.  T is very bright but never did well in grade school. I was so tired of teachers (not blaming them) of telling us that T wasn't working to his potential. I knew in my heart that he wasn't excelling because he wasn't interested. How to channel what he liked was the issue.  Whatever the case, he texted my husband last night and said he got another A on an assignment. Wants to do better. And then apologized profusely for being such a shit in high school. Said he's having a hard time forgiving himself and cannot believe we've stuck with him. T also said that he wants to stay at school over the summer - take more classes and get a job. Cannot fathom coming back here because he said some of his friends are shooting up heroin.  Says he wants to stay away from that scene.  I've been praying.......... reminding myself that there's always hope. Hope is what I have for my second born son too - who isn't doing very well.......
