It's a GIRL!!!!!!!!!!

Hello ladies! First of all I want to say that I"m so happy for those of you who are carrying little miracles and I'm praying and hoping that those of you on your IF journeys get to have your moment really soon! I know I haven't written on here but I've been silently stalking a lot of you!
So I went to my anatomy scan today and found out that I am carrying a healthy baby girl! The ultrasound tech did tell us at 13 weeks that it "looked like a girl" but we really wanted the confirmation today so that we can start preparing. I'm now 21 weeks along now, finally at the half way point!
With that being said, we did have quite a scare today. I was already really nervous about the appointment because I can be quite a pessimist sometimes and I "felt" like something could be wrong. I don't know why I'm like that, I go through fazes of being really happy to worrying that something is wrong with the baby. I just never wanted anything so bad in my life and it's scary as most of ya'll know when you have tried so hard for something and finally get it. You want things to be perfect.....ANYWAY....after the ultrasound, the doc came in and told me everything looked great and baby is fine...but then she says there were two things the tech saw that she needed to discuss with me. 1) I have a low lying placenta, it's not WAY off but it's not as far as it should be from the cervix 2) They found a echogenic focus in the baby's heart, which is pretty much a "soft" indicator of a genetic defect like downs syndrome.......Now of course I was happy that physically, the baby is great BUT I did start to cry because it's scary to know that something could be wrong with your child. Well to make a long story short, she was able to fit me to the the high risk Perinatal doc who specialized in genetic defects and they redid my ultrasound right away in their office. Come to find out that he is 99.9% sure that the baby does not have any abnormality. He said he can't give me a 100% sure answer but it's highly unlikely. He literally checked EVERYTHING and made me feel so much better and said this is seen sometimes and isn't really a marker for anything abnormal.
As far as the low lying placenta, well that just has to be monitored and hopefully it will grow further from my uterus as I grow and they are keeping an eye on it. If not, I will most likely have to have a C-section so I'm crossing my fingers that it moves as I grow.
So needless to say, it was a whirlwind of emotions today! So I spoiled myself with a Whopper with cheese meal and a donut....
Other than that, my headaches are still in the mornings and tend to go away during the day and I can literally hear my pulse in my left ear sometimes, apparently can be from pregnancy (I have the weirdest symptoms) so I just have to deal with it for now.
This has been such a crazy, exciting and emotional journey up until now and I'm finally starting to feel more excited and less worried. I just have to keep my faith and trust in God and know that everything will be fine. I finally started to feel kicks and she is so active after coffee or a meal that I look forward to feeling those kicks and to them getting stronger.
Thank you to all you ladies for reading and being so supportive. We all deserve to hold our babies in our arms and we will all have a more than special bond with our babies after all the IF procedures we have endured.
Love ya'll ladies!

Kristina

Lovely update. I know what you mean about convincing yourself that something is up, sometimes based on the tiniest little niggle. Its great to hear I am not alone and that it very rarely means something really is up!
Well done, cant wait for my scan I have 12 days to go!
