it passed......

I'm feeling better - not awesome but much better than I was.  One thing I did to get me out of my funk was to go up to church yesterday and help with the "Adopt A Family" project, for Christmas, the church has been doing for 20 years.  A parishioner can choose to buy one gift from a list for one person or for a whole family.  Since I belong to a large church community most buy one.  These gifts then get sorted and matched to a particular family then placed in a bag that will be delivered by the end of the week to all the needy families throughout our city, not just our community.    I've done this on and off for a few years and couldn't for awhile because of work.  Last year I was too preoccupied with T.  One of the reasons I went up there was to see my "ray of sunshine".  It's one of the women who run the very organized program.  She is probably in her mid 60's and I just love her, even though I barely know her.  She radiates and is just so friendly, caring, AND humble.  In spite of all her contagious, loving attitude I couldn't help but notice she was wearing a wig...again.  Years ago she battled cancer and now here she is again.  We talked for awhile - mainly her asking me about me- and then at the end of our conversation I had to say something.  I knew she didn't want the attention but I had to ask her how she was feeling and she said "One Day At A Time"......   I am going to send her a Christmas card and thank her for her sunshine.  She is an angel. T is at jail right now.  At jail  --- not in.  He went with a group from school (field trip) to tour the facility.  And that is a good thing...  I wrestled about allowing him to go since he'd be missing school but I thought that this would also be a good reinforcer for him to stay clean.  Fortunately, he IS doing well again and, hopefully, clear headed enough for him to absorb the information.  He never went to be last night.  His soccer team (made up of kids who have graduated from high school) had an 11:30PM game last night.  Normally, I wouldn't have allowed him to go but since he had the field trip I said yes.  He decided it was best to stay up all night instead of getting some shut eye and then feeling groggy from waking up on a few hours of sleep.  So....whatever.  He did go to AA last night, which was good.  I bugged and bugged him to find a ride to go.  I want it to be a habit for him.  I gently remind him that he HAS to go and get them signed or he will be going back to court - since he's supposed to be doing that because he's in a special program.  I pushed this one with the help of his PO.  His counselor is just a little too laid back for me - which is why T likes him.  I am glad, however, that his counselor has a good relationship with him and even did when T was a handful. I am grateful for all of the people that have helped us through this stressful time.  I went shopping - bought gifts for his teachers, his guidance counselor, the attendance lady (who also is the In School Suspension person who gets all the grief from the "bad" kids) the adminstration, and his support team (caseworker and counselors).  Oh I also have to deliver cookies and banana bread to the police station.  Okay - perhaps I got a little carried away but I want them to know that they are appreciated.
