It Is Over
It is over. The five weeks of training is over. So much to learn and so little time. So many places to go to get information to help people with their problems. Our training logins and passwords have been replaced with ones for the real world of the call center floor. The last two days were the worst. We worked the phones for real. Real people with real roblems. This will be the Thursday and Friday I will never forget. Thursday was a disaster. I got so frustrated I almost quit. Only six calls, but I solved only one of them. The others gave up on me and I don't blame them. Friday was better with six successful calls,,,three of them in a forty minute span. We have been assigned to teams so our class will split up. A two week transition period starts Monday where we'll be closely supervised and helped. After that, it's up to us to produce. But, there is a good side. The days of 4PM to 12:30AM shifts are gone. My shift will be 11:30AM to 8PM. I've proven to myself that I can talk to the people. In fact, I enjoy it. I'm told the mechanics of the job, knowing where to go for information and getting it quickly, will come with experience. It's got to or I won't survive.
