It is amazing how time flies when you are having fun
January 25, 2016 will mark 2 years since I walked in to my house and told my wife that I was gay. I still remember the sadness and loneness that followed and how it felt like I had completely unraveled my life. My divorce came in May of that year and I walked away from a nice house on a golf course and loss the majority of my 401K. A friend of mind told me that when loosing everything in a divorce sounded like a good viable option, it was time to do it and he was right. I moved out on my own, started socializing, attended a coming out support group in Houston, and life began to feel new and exciting. I attended the Houston Gay Pride festivities that year and had a blast.
I am still amazed at how far I have come. I am out and everybody knows about it and the world did not come to an end. Actually, I was amazed by the outpouring of support. After communicating with a MTF transgender lady for almost a year through an app, e-mails, and texting, I managed to start dating her in December of the year I came out and got my divorce. Now we have been dating for over a year and I could not be happier. I gave her a promise ring and am thinking about long range plans for the both of us. Two years went by really fast and I have no regrets!
