It has been awhile
The last journal I wrote apparently didn't go anywhere! it says draft.
It was not exciting - just me moaning about being old!
In June we went to Ottawa to celebrate Cevyn's birthday and of course to hang out with the grandies. We had a nice time except for the weather. It was cool - unusual for Ottawa in June. We got to meet Cevyn's friend's identical twins. They were premature so spent a couple of weeks in the NICU. They are sooo tiny!
A couple days before we were to come home, I got a call that my sister was dying. She did pass away the day we went home. I didn't go to her as her POA detests me and likely would have banned me from her nursing home. It is a long story. I was sad and relieved. Apparently she was bedridden with bedsores (a sign of poor care in her nursing home) and suffered late stage dementia. The last time I saw her, she didn't really recognize me until I told her I was her bratty little sister. We enjoyed our visit. I had her laughing as I reminisced.
I found out that another peer died. Ken was my age and we grew up as next door neighbours. Apparently he got viral meningitis and was on life support for awhile.
As for Joe and me, we are hanging in. We are feeling antsy - not accustomed to being at home for so long! Our pool is finally open so we can do pool exercises 3 times a week. I try to walk 3 times a week as well - 3 miles plus the hill which is about equivalent to 8 or 9 flights of stairs. If I stop, I seize up!
Like a lot of the world, our summer has been very hot. We have smoke from forest fires from British Columbia and South of the border. On really smoky days we have to stay in.
Our province is proud of the fact that we have next to no Covid restrictions. We had the Calgary Stampede and now our Covid numbers are rising. The health care providers, ER docs and nurses are upset as our immunization stats are not as good as they should be. I hope things settle down but I am not optimistic.
In the meantime, we are enjoying spending time with neighbours.
I have my ups and downs. I miss Lisa more than ever.

I've done that myself....thought I posted a journal only to discover I'd saved it as a draft. :)
I'm sorry to hear about your sister, although I definitely understand the sadness over the loss AND the "relief". I am sorry that you weren't able to be with her. Also sorry to hear about your friend. Life...ups, downs, sideways moments....joys and tears....(((hugs)))

LisaAngell....FYI....you can find your "drafts" by clicking on JOURNAL at the top of the page. This will take you to all the journals you've ever written here. Then you'll see tabs which say VIEW ALL DRAFTS PUBLIC FRIENDS PRIVATE. Just click on DRAFTS and you will see anything you've saved as a draft. (((hugs)))
