Isolation Factor

YS woke me from a long nap last evening to let me know he was his children back to the home front. He is hoping to tend kid-hostile hospital business for his wife today. As is the characteristic of every psych hospital I have ever dealt with, nobody knows anything and details are sketchy on every front. He is hoping that showing up in person near the start of regular business hours will increase his odds of finding clear details and direction. Hope springs eternal? I have encouraged him not to rush the process. Time invested in his wife's healing now will pay great dividends down the road. Their children are only toddlers now. They have a long and confusing road ahead of them. I believe it is good news that both parents remain comitted to the "We" of it, despite the domestic violence cycle which has been escalating between them since the MIL/DIL blowout. Are we surprised? It runs through both branches of their family tree. Whatever their personal issues, there is not a doubt in my mind that both are deeply committed to parenting. A 3a.m. text exchange from ES's SO let me know that father and children landed at the urban homestead and that all looked stable. She is off from work tomorrow, so she will be able to pinch hit with the kids.

Meanwhile, it is time to carry this job site to its next phase. I think. Breaking the intense isolation up here is on the top of the agenda. This is a far cry from what I call wilderness, but sitting in the center of 140 acres sure limits the possibility of the neighbors hearing me cry for help if I should fall off a ladder or some such. The neighbors probably wouldn't hear toddlers crying for Gammy to get up, either.

Sure are allot of ways to go from here. We are far from certain which one to take. My solo obsessing of the morning is on a stove to replace the single burner hot plate I stole from the lab equipment. I have been getting hungry for oven-aroma therapy. Baking smells sure can warm a chill night. We see what the day brings. Weather forecasts indicate infectiously beautiful weather today and that pesky owl buzzed me again last night. The last time I went into the big barn alone, s/he let me get halfway into the barn before flying off. I am more than a little curious to see if s/he wants to talk.

Prayers in progress. Letting god lead the dance.

I am fairly ignorant about owls --so many critters and so little time-- but a quick internet search has me thinking it is a snowy owl. Maybe. For sure, it is a BIG bird. I have only seen the one.
