isl husband left after 30 years, no warning, no reason//church sale//"a new broom sweeps clean"
Raining heavy right now with tornado warnings and heavy rain gusts. surprised because it was lovely outside all day - balmy 70's, but overcast. wanted to start painting the house but couldn't because you need FIVE hours for the paint to dry. also have been leaving outside a cotton and a wool blanket that i use often when i read laying around on the lounge chair, but noticed the elements of being outdoors is damaging both blankets. wonder if one of those rubbermaid closets for outdoors would do the trick for them, or do they have to be indoors? it was my favorite of the wool blankets so i'm kind of pissed.
went to the sale at the church. nice to see everyone. but adr was there and out of sorts. she is usually sunshine. all smiles. she is working part time at the school doing after school care and for some reason its tiring her out. hope she is okay. odd if she is not - she's always so healthy.
the saying goes, "if you shop at garage sales and thrift stores, everything you "lose/stolen" in life will come back to you." this has proven itself true over and over. a step cousin of mine stole my ENTIRE COLLECTION of disney porcelains when i let her stay at my condo in florida after her mother tried to kill her with a butcher knife. i also talked her through the ordeal while she hid in her bedroom whispering into her telephone, she called me for help. i booked a plane ticket for her at the airport so she could fly down out of harm's way. in return for this, she robbed me TWICE. (her brother loves doing an imitation of this, your cousin saves your life and lets you stay at their home in florida and in return for this, you steal her entire collection of disney porcelains, the appraisals that go with the porcelains and the insurance riders for them). so that was the last of letting her stay over....
today, the church had "authentic" disney ornaments on sale, in individual boxes and foam wrapped. great prices. new. they aren't breakable like the porcelains were. yay! i got lady and i got tramp and i got the dalmations, and i got bambi. i could have bought the whole set but i don't want to push my luck. hopefully the animals won't be able to break these, and hopefully there won't be any kleptos around to steal them. though it seems like there are always thieves everywhere. wonder why that is? haven't they heard of STORES. bda's mother used to say, its a left-handed compliment (eric used to say the same thing and encourage me to open stores, which we actually did in the 80's through the 90's). bda's mother would say, when you have nice things, people want to take them. so, the solution is to be a buyer for a store, they are taking your stuff, so let them buy your stuff. now, do they only take your stuff, if they see YOU with it, then YOU have to advertise your stuff; or do they merely take your stuff. not sure. our stores always did well though. "they will come" they will buy. it happens. drives me crazy though. and stores get robbed as well. did it lessen ME getting robbed. not sure.
was supposed to go to an open house (for christmas) by mel's but couldn't get to it. one of the girl's whose brother does all these risky things for a living in orange county and owns large and dangerous animals, like a zoo! wants to adopt for her mother. also the whackos who used to be at petsmart who harrass everyone, are at it again. this time through a woman named priscilla. what a pain in the ass.
saw isl as well, briefly. can't believe it went in one of my ears, and out the other that her husband left her two years ago. i probably thought they'd get back together. what the hell is with me? they were together 30 years, so its confusing and unexpected. he had been her only boyfriend from age 18 onward so "dating" never existed for her. talk about a bad transition. there was also no warning at all. he said the love was gone. he claims he wasn't seeing anyone, but her name is maria. i said to isl, that should make it easier. at least you know why. i am stunned by this. its rare to know anyone who stays with one person for that many years!
he's only paying her $350 child support and doesn't always pay. the house and all the bills on the house and credit cards and car are HER'S. she didn't get a lawyer. she said she was in shock and just signed everything. omg! a year later, this passed july, he tried to come back when he and "maria" had a big fight. this lasted two weeks and then he decided not to and went back to maria. just as well. isl says that was the last straw for her. so now, she is seeing someone else that has everything in common with her. with her xhusband, there was never anything in common except two kids. they were like oil and vinegar. that must be hard - like living with a stranger... the new guy has everything in common with her, but she shrugs that off and says: "A new broom sweeps clean."
Prov. Someone who is new in a particular job will do a very good job at first, to prove how competent he or she is.
He also has an xwife that left him after 23 years (of constant fighting), so lots to commiserate with. she says they went on "undates" for two months, but now its real dating for the passed three weeks. (in other words, they went out, but she would insist, this isn't a date. lol.) i hope it works out for her. "learning" to date for the first time when a person is older would be very difficult. though dating when over a certain age must be tricky anyway...or who knows, maybe its the same thing, but everyone looks different, so the standards are different?

i just realized something else. her daughter is around 26 (i think - 2 times married already, her latest husband is about 40, closer to isl\'s age, and two kids 9 from her first marriage (who isl adores) and a husky 4 year old the same size as the 9 year old almost with the newest husband (who isl doesn\'t like at all, like a rhino in a china shop). isl\'s younger daughter is 15. was that planned? that is a lot of years between the two kids. i never even asked her that. its weird when you finally bother to think on people. too complicated actually and so much easier to deal with just THEM than the entire melodrama that IS all people\'s lives. lol.
