Is it wrong to be happy.
just latley i have been having bouths of happiness. as soon as these feelings surface i feel incredibly guilty and sad. i can be wandering down the street or watching the birds in the garden and i will feel happy. then i catch myself and feel sad. i figure this is normal but very frustrating. i am still struggling to talk to people about other things apart from how i am feeling. the first question they ask is how are you and i struggle to put the feeling into words.

Paul, this is entirely normal - you will have a lot of up and down times, it usually gets called the roller coaster around here. The happy moments are a good sign though. And I hope you are able to let the guilt go. After almost 5 years, I can tell you absolutely that guilt is the least useful thing to hang onto. It serves no purpose and only steals your energy for all the other things you have to do. If you can, let it go.
Love and Hugs,
Martha
Hi Paul. I am so sorry for your loss. Your emotions will be all over with guilt sneaking in when we try to be happy. I just tell myself in my marriage of forty years Don wanted me to be happy. I can not think of a single reason he would not want happiness for me now. One way to change negative thoughts is to understand them and release them. They are coming from you and you are not wrong in any way to see and feel things that bring you joy. Sharon
I to am feeling that way. Marilyn
