Irritable
I am so very irritable today... Not having my sleeping medication is killing me... It is difficult to control my emotions, I am constantly up and down all of the time... I am exhausted and need to rest... I'm receiving a lot of pressure from my family to stop taking it, but I don't think I can do this any longer... It's just not worth it...

My mind will race at night keeping me awake. Especially if I\'m under stress. Laying down and deep breathing sometimes calms my body down enough to drift off to sleep. Other times I just have to wait for pure exhaustion to hit. The next day is always rough. ((Lila)) Some things that have worked for me are: eating/drinking something warm and carby, hot shower/tub, reading makes my eyes tired, same with writing/drawing, massage, stretching. But some nights nothing seems to work, and I won\'t/can\'t/shouldn\'t take most meds because of my liver. I feel for you. =(
The only side effects I have had are weight gain/dry mouth/grogginess... I am willing to cut down on the dosage with no difficulty whatsoever... I can\'t do it... I\'ve been like this since I was very young... I don\'t forsee it changing... It is so frustrating, but I need to go ahead and order it... Lack of sleep is far worse than the side effects at this point... My heart to you, Lila...
My mom doesn\'t want me to take meds for sleep, anxietry, depression. Most of the time I feel as if I\'m sinning taking my ambien etc. They say if I just pray, all will be well. Well they don\'t say that for my diabetes ot their heart issues, then it\'s okay and not sinful to see a doctor.
I\'m sick of trying to explain to folks. I\'m sick of all the \'she\'s a mess\' looks I get. Lila, this lifr@e was given to YOU . It makes no sense to writhe in thought and sleeplessness while others rest peacefully, neverminding your pain. I tell you what, if any one of them will stay up with you, the entire extent of your insomnia or insomniac phase, so be it. i bet it would change the way they see things a bit. Or if they\'re like my mom, they just keep praying as she drifts off...............
Every person on this planet is different. My sister and I (15 months apart) were raised in the same household, yet we have very completely different personalities. I\'ve wondered if it was the birth order (she\'d middle and I\'m the youngest) that made us so different. She tends to stress over everything, will get the runs and migraines from worrying. I\'ve always been cheerful and never worried about much. We\'re grown adults now with adult \"children\" and things are still the same. When we are both faced with the same thing our reactions are completely different. I\'ve been through divorce, raising kids on my own, selling and buying a house, moving to new school etc and it didn\'t impact me that much. I was nervous and stressed, but it didn\'t affect me physically (guess I was too busy to think about it). It wasn\'t until Lady\'s health started to decline that I became so stressed that I had trouble calming down enough to sleep properly and then became very \"jumpy\". Now that I lost her, the grief keeps me from getting the proper rest. I though I was past it, but then it started again and here I am laying in bed listening to music on my phone and playing solitaire... I can\'t stop the \"what if\" thoughts in my head. Sorry to ramble. My point is, no one knows why we\'re all so different, but they shouldn\'t judge because you\'re not like them. I may not understand why my sister is the way she is, but I don\'t judge or try to change her. It sounds like your family doesn\'t understand. Do what feels right for you and not what you think others expect. If you\'re not sure, talk to a professional about it for an outside opinion. Doctors don\'t prescribe meds randomly.
Stay strong xoxo
P.S. My Mom used to say, get up and iron if you can\'t sleep :-)
Thanks you all so much... I\'ve honestly tried everything... Herbal, pharmaceutical, every option I\'ve been given over the years... The Seroquel helps me sleep and has side effects, but this has been going on for a month now... I am getting little or no sleep and it is just not healthy for me at all... I appreciate your perspective regarding how she cannot see what I am going through... If I woke her up every night and made her stay up with me, maybe she would see it then... It\'s easy for her to pick and criticize me for my choices, but she does not live through nor has lived through the things I have experienced... You know, moms... LOL! (for all of you mothers out there)... I am picking up my prescription this afternoon... I will cut down on my dosage amount and, as soon as I get it, I am curling up in my bed and finally getting a good rest...
I read an article by Dr Oz who says eating nuts helps you sleep. Sometimes when I go to bed and after laying there for sometimes 2 or 3 hours, I get into my container of Brazil nuts. I feel myself relax and when I go to bed I fall asleep right away. I\'m not sure if it\'s the Brazil nuts or any kind of nuts but they sure work for me. This only happens to me maybe every few weeks.
I wonder does that wotk for chronic insomniacs. Eating nuts would never break this insomnia. But good for you!!!!!!!
I know about Seroquel it is not a sleep agent. It is a psychiatric drug and it has helped many, many people. YOU CAN\'T JUST STOP TAKING IT! Every medication has side effects. Three years ago, I was on Prozac (still taking 20 MG a day), Xanax (taking it as needed now) and Remeron (which was a life saver but OMG coming off even a half dose a night was hell for three weeks). I\'ve tried Buspar, can\'t tolerate it although it did help with intrusive thoughts. do NOTHING without your Doctor\'s supervision. Do NOT listen to other people telling you what you need or don\'t need. Between you and your Doctor you will be able to discover what dose of what medication helps you the most with the least side effects. Sometimes, \"less\" is \"more\" for some people. Don\'t just STOP, that could be dangerous.
Sounds like my father-but with him it\'s because he likes to lay down too much during the day so he is up and down half the night...so what to help calm you down?
I can sing you a lullaby? LULLABY and good night-lay your sleepy head downnnnnnnnnnn.
How are the two walking balls of fur? (cats)
I ordered my medication, took one half of the dose and slept for nine hours without waking... I am finally rested and much, much calmer internallly... Annettearizona, thank you so much for the offer of the lullaby... I would love nothing more than to have my back scratched and sung to like the little girl who was lost in my childhood... It would have been very comforting and welcomes for me... My heart to each of you and thank you for your helpful suggestions and encouragement... LIla
((Lila)) glad you got some rest.
