Iron and vitamin C
Well I just got a phone call from the Doc and I am low on Iron. I knew this already. It has been a life long battle. But now I am supposed to take Iron and Vitamin C three times a day. I don't haver a problem with that but being forgetful. I already am terrible a the second dose of calcium daily. Now with the Iron and Vitamin C, I guess I will have to figure that all out. This is a struggle and a juggle. I guess this is the price to pay for my health. YEAH! I was driving recently and I came to the horid realization that I know every fast food resturant between work and home. I am starting with the constant battle of wanting French fries, even though I am not hungry. It is a tired, in the car, on my way and I want food habit. It is a sickness that I wish I could beat. I don't stop, but I am aware of how easy it could be to swing through the drive through and fulfill this bizarre food need. I talked to Jim about this and while he listens I don't think he truly understands. I related it to his smoking addiction and not smoking in the cars and he said he understood. The reality is, he could live wihtout smoking. He stops and can get out of the car and smoke as he pleases. My addiction is not one that I can live without. I need food to survive and live. I am not supposed to live for food. What a struggle. I am not denying how wonderful I feel, I am very pleased with my journey so far. I am frightfully aware of the fact that my stomach is healing and I can eat and feel full. Then an hour later I could eat again if I let myself do this. That is where my mental struggle is going to always take place. I don't know if I am beating myself up about this. I do know that I want to be a great statistic for the record books as the person who has managed to keep the weight off. I know my accomplishments and I try hard to be faithful to the protocol of the surgeon. I can proudly say, I haven't had soda of any kind in 16 months. I haven't had any candy (real sugar) in 6 months. I have tried a few lowfat/reduce fat chips. Only a single serving and it is not in the house as a rule. I have also ate a few handfuls of popcorn and nothing happen as far as dumping. I guess the worst part is I have that terrible monkey on my back about not bingeing on those two things. I have partaked on a few pieces of sugar free chocolate. I buy very little and keep it out of the main living areas of the house. This is a two fold benefit. One I don't have it in my face and two I have it put away so when I really want it the kids haven't gobbled it all up. I have found much solace in the DS boards and can always find some form of encouragement or hope in times of depression or frustration. I believe that my time spent on the internet helps wiht me not eating. It gives my hands, and mind somethig to do and focus on besides the crazy media of TV food and the need to eat because of conditional training. Enough of this rambling.... One day, one meal, on my way to success..

Oh Sharman, I DO GET IT! I have an hour and a half drive (counting from the time I lock the office door till I\'m walking through the door at home. Sometimes I could eat the steering wheel I want stuff so badly. Since I haven\'t had my surgery yet, unfortunately, sometimes I succumb, sometimes not.
My therapist suggested that I eat a later lunch so that I\'m not so hungry. That did offer quite a bit of help, as long as I remembered to pack a good/healthy lunch and really waited until 1 PM to eat it .
I don\'t know what else to offer except the few tricks that have helped me. I don\'t carry cash anymore. No money, can\'t buy fast food. I don\'t have credit cards anymore, cut them up. No more impulse buying food or otherwise. (We did a Dave Ramsey 13 week class last fall, and that has helped with a lot of things). I car pool. When someone else is driving, I can\'t ask them to pull over because I\'m having a fry attack.
Best wishes on your quest to beat the fry beast into submission. You\'ve done so many things RIGHT, that even if you do have a fry, you will always be St. Sharman to me :-)
