iPod vs iPad Mini
So I am right now stuck with using an iPad Mini for my mobile music. I mean it's good and what not, but it's not something I can throw in my pocket and go with. So I ordered an iPod Nano 4th generation. This will be good, because it's small enough to go into my pocket. I had an iPod Nano 3rd generation, aka the fatty (square design) at one time. However I gave it to someone when I bought an iPod Touch first generation, which I happened to lose. So this newest acquisition will be perfect if I wanna go to the bike trail and go for a walk or a bike ride. I will still use my iPad Mini for stuff like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and what have you for when I am laying in bed, but for mobile music this will be replacing it. I ordered the 8GB model in silver, along with some ear clip headphones. The headphones have Amazon Prime, so will more than likely be here before my iPod. Which is fine, because this iPod doesn't come with headphones, just the sync cable, so it will be good to charge and use my iPod without having to worry about headphones.

You are talking to a computer geek here, so I do have some words. lol - First of which, all ipads may have mp3 function, but they are not meant to be a mp3 player, they are mini computers, thats why you get the big screen. Ipods, or anything simular, are what you need, cause like you said, they fit in your pocket, easy to use.
Maybe you have less music then I, I got at least 16GB of music, so I would want a 20 GB model at least. But if you have less music, then 8 GB should be just fine. ;) Be more careful with your acquisitions, these things cost a lot of money, don\'t loose them.
Speaking of headphones, may I make a suggestion? Most new devices today have bluetooth functionality. All you need is a pair of affordable bluetooth wireless headphones, that you can sync up via bluetooth to your device. Best part is, there is no cord to get in the way, and you can charge the headphones back up via USB connection to a computer or portable device.
I have a chinese generic PMP unit with a 4.5 inch screen, it can play music and movies. Its pocket size, so it will fit in my pocket, but it doesn\'t have bluetooth functionality. So when I am working, or on an exercise walk, I put music on my cell phone witch has bluetooth, then I listen on my bluetooth headset. Mine is the Kinivo brand which doubles as a call answering device, and has built in mic, real nice.
I\'d like to get a Ipad 10 inch, but they cost far too much. So I am planning to go with an Google Android 10 inch tablet, which is just as good as an ipad. I can get them for around 100 dollars right now, so I am thinking next year I auda treat myself to one ;)
My main thing is I want to have WIFI functionality, this way I can access my network and browse the net anywhere I am within range of the wireless router. Plus, it be nice to watch movies on a 10 inch screen, and games I hear are real fun to play on them as well. ;) With word processor functionality, and a bunch of other app features, will make such a device much more convenient then the weight of a full size 17 inch laptop.

I have at the moment 34.72GB of music in my iTunes. I don\'t necessarily need all of my music with me while I am on the go.
