Interpreting a Letter
I have a friend that is terminally ill. We were together about seven years ago and really hit it off. A series of events resulted in us not working out. We went through periods of not speaking to each other then talking with each other daily. It just cycled back and forth depending on whatever was going on in our lives.
Lately we have been talking and I've been encouraging her current relationship because the gal seems really great and makes my friend happy. She's terminally ill, I want her to be happy y'know? She just proposed to her girlfriend on Valentine's Day so I'm hoping the "getaway" from her current life stressers is helping her out (they are long distance right now due to her medical treatments).
Well, she asked me a month or two ago if she could write me a letter and I said yes. She told me it was going to be the "If I die tomorrow" letter and I was fine after reading it. She told me she wrote another one, which she wrote before leaving to go on vacation, and I got it today. She was talking about a fantasy she used to have back in the past of where our lives would have ended up. She ended the letter with her eventually getting sick and passing away with me saying something to her as she passed away.
I'm thinking that I'm just so perplexed by this that I can't understand it so I figured I would post it here and see if anyone can make an inference on it. I don't want to ask her about it while she's with her girlfriend and take away from their visit, so I plan on trying to ask her about it after she's done with the visit... I'm just lost and don't know how to interpret this. >.>

That\'s really something. She\'s involved, and indeed proposed to one person, but is reminiscing and revealing a romantic moment about you? There may be some unresolved desires on her part...
If I were you, I\'d just trust her, considering your positive relationship with her, to accept an honest question, like \"What did you want to say with this letter?\" That\'s the sure way to go beyond speculation such as mine.
She brings up our past a lot. I know that it\'s one of her \"regrets\" in life but I promote her current relationship. I\'m fine with her talking about it, since she\'s terminally ill and probably wants to make sure everything\'s settled and done when she passes but I don\'t entertain the idea of us being together again.
I do plan on asking her about it. Today she texted me saying she is sad (I\'ve been giving her space since she\'s with her lady so they can focus on their visit) and she said that she\'s flying back to her place today. So in a week or so I might, but I wanna give her space since she\'s emo about leaving her girl.
I hope thingsdo work out.
