Internet Safety Guidelines for Parents

Parents initially welcomed the Internet, believing that it would provide their children with access to much-needed educational content like lidoclasses. However, many soon realized that instead of using the Internet for homework or research, their children were spending hours browsing undesirable websites.

• Make sure online access is a family activity. When your child is working on computer, stop by and review what is on the screen. If your child closes the screen quickly, be suspicious, and investigate this further.


• Spend some time on the Internet with your children and connect with them as often as possible. Ask your children to show you which sites they visit and be open and willing to discuss inappropriate material they may encounter. 


• The main reasons children do not report inappropriate content online is the fear of punishment from parents. Get to know your friends online, just like you know all other friends.


• Schedule Internet online learning use for your children. Try to limit your elementary school youth to just 30 to 60 minutes several times a week. Older children may need more frequent access to school projects. 


• Instruct your kids lido learning to provide personal information (name, address, age, phone number, password, credit card number, etc.) in chat rooms, email, or bulletin boards. Be aware that children's websites, even the most reputable ones, sometimes ask for email addresses, home addresses, and phone numbers before allowing children to enter.
