INTERNET LETTER TO GAY SON - found this one line - TOO BEAUTIFUL not to print
Letter written from a dad to his gay son Nate is going viral on the Internet because of its simple, hopeful message of love. “I overheard your phone conversation with Mike last night about your plans to come out to me,”
It reads:
“The only thing I need you to plan is to bring home OJ and bread after class.
We are out, like you now. I’ve known you were gay since you were six, I’ve loved you since you were born.” He signs it “Dad” and finishes with a post script: “Your mom and I think you and Mike make a cute couple.” “We get a lot of crazy stuff, so I almost didn’t look at [this letter when it was sent in],” FCKH8.com founder Luke Montgomery told Yahoo! Shine about the letter, which was emailed to them by Nate, a Michigan high-school student.
But when he did read it, he said, “I cried.” He said Nate’s family did not want to share any information besides the letter itself. But the four sentences alone have been enough to inspire a bit of an online frenzy. “It’s actually sad so many people are excited about it,” Mongtomery said.
“And what I think that says is, one, it’s rare, and that’s really bad. And two, people are really craving this kind of reaction."

in the arts about 50% of the people you meet are bi or gay and i grew up working in and around the arts.
when i was a kid, i didn\'t know that that stuff mattered at all, probably because i didn\'t know what \"that stuff\" was. lol.
then the 80\'s hit and all kinds of talk was out there -- However, in college, the son of one of the owner\'s of off campus housing where i rented, was seriously gay, and it amazed me how many straight male friends he had. MOST of his friends were straight males, (married with a child, that kind of thing) and a much smaller percentage of his friends were gay or bi. it never occurred to me at that time, that straight guys don\'t care about another guy being gay if its a friend of their\'s, at least not the guys at the university i attended? if the guy was a cross-dresser or something they would be put off, but that is all. i think what matters is who is narrowminded and who isn\'t. who is super conforming and who isn\'t. who is two-faced and who isn\'t.
nowadays i don\'t know that many people with alternate lifestyles. most of the people i know, i discovered, are \"slacker parents\" the experts call it, and multiple divorce - which is similar to when i was growing up. the couples, that are \"together\" without divorce generally have a zillion skeletons in their closet and are only letting the world see the outer layer and they are generally more bitter than everyone else put together. probably because living with an act 24/7 is a huge burden that needs to be lifted. if the person is in denial of any sort, and not facing the secrets and skeletons, its an even bigger burden and even sadder.
and then there are the ones with even larger troubles - criminal, mental etc, that make a person\'s choice of sexual preference seem silly and trite. who cares. as long as the person isn\'t hurting anyone or bullying or holding another captive or robbing or poisoning another or attacking other living things, to \"do stuff\" to them, do what you want.
a relationship is a relationship, it doesn\'t matter what the gender(s) are.

You are so right! It\'s sad that still so many people today just don\'t get it!
i know. people are people. its lovely that his parents are so loving and devoted. he is fortunate that he has this. everyone likes to think their own generation is going to be so great and so open and giving and wonderful, but its never 100 percent anything.
I have actually always had the WORST gaydar ever. I\'ve never cared what people do in their bedrooms, unless they tried to bring it into mine. I actually lost a friend because I didn\'t realize she was gay and made a comment that led her to believe that I knew and thought she was hitting on me. (Long story) All that matters to me is how you treat other people. I saw this note on Facebook, and it made me smile. The way it makes it obvious that his sexual orientation is as important as the amount of orange juice in the frig...priceless! *HUGS*
i\'ve had that happen as well michelle. two different office bosses (plus all the males that do this), one of them would come onto every girl there at some point. wrong to do that male or female, its called sexual harrassment, but for straight people, its more of a freak out when its same sex, doesn\'t that occur to them? the other one, was married with children and having an affair with a married lady judge and one of the bi court reporters who had a live in boyfriend. don\'t even want to know how that stuff works.
the other was a friend my own age, from work who used to model and was drop dead gorgeous. nowadays, she has grown kids, but i was horrified and since large firms have security cameras everywhere, everyone knew right away and my bosses wanted to talk about it. they were afraid i would quit. they called personnel and all that. omg! to me, i was just going to let it go. it happened and she was really far off. my other friend who was a lawyer/model/drummer in a band and at the same firm couldn\'t stop laughing. i\'m like oh, this is great. lol. totally unexpected though even by then and i was a few years older by then and more worldly hopefully, and there it was.
i never talked about it, but my friends in the suburbs found out as well and started naming all these people who were gay or bi, one of which was my evil step brother and his friend let me know he was having an affair with an ex-boyfriend of mine for a couple of years WHILE we were going out. i had heard this from soooo many people through the years, but at that point it finally clicked in my head that everything people were saying about the evil step brother was true. its like one thing at a time. really can\'t handle all of this. amazing how sex screws up so many relationships.
i know of two male models right now who are brothers. one is about seven years older than the other. both gorgeous guys, but both of them refuse to do work without bodyguards because of males coming onto them all the time. its too bad because they could be making a lot of money modelling, but they mostly avoid the industry because of men hitting on them. same kind of thing, different gender. it seems like gay people don\'t \"date\" the way heterosexuals do and in the heterosexual world what they do is considered forms of rape. i think its why they prefer their own culture. less rules. ditto with another reason its easier to stay in the heterosexual culture, more rules, rules are there to protect you. keep things safe and slower paced.
