Insurance disappointment AETNA
So, I have jumped through all of the hoops, 3 month multidisciplinary surgical prep regime, psyc analysis, excercise specialist, endocrinologist, surgeon, excercise classes, diet, etc, etc, etc....Now, as of 11/8, Aetna is denying to pay. Two reasons: no proof of a 6 month diet even though their criteria states you only need 3 months AND I am missing a weight from 2009. I have weight from 2002, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010, and 2011 all showing BMI above 40 except for 2008. I was on weight watchers! Hellllooooo! I am fat. I diet constantly!! My weight fluctuates from 235 to 275 almost anually!
As it sits now, the surgeons office has submitted proof of the 3 month diet and my own weight logged in 2009. (above 40 BMI). I also have them fax a letter that I wrote appealing to them to approve the surgery. I hope it works! I am absolutely crushed. I was getting so excited to think that next summber I would be able to enjoy hiking and other activities with my teenagers! That I would finally be able to keep up with them!
