Insomnia
I used to wake up in the middle of the night quite often but have slept quite soundly since Lisa died (once I got to sleep). Well this is one of those nights. I woke up at 2:30 and could not fall back asleep.
I have been wondering why tonight. Possibly it is because a former colleague called in a panic this morning because she had been given a rather daunting assignment at work = determine the staffing for 3 continuing care units, develop rotations and decide what equipment would be required. We did that together several years ago. So she came over at 1:30 and we worked until 7 pm and got it mostly done. We enlisted Joe to help with the rotations as he is good with numbers - developing rotations means ensuring the correct number of people are working on day, evening and night shifts - ensuring that nobody works more than 6 days in a row and has every second weekend off. Rotations are not my forte. Determining the staffing patterns was easy - deciding how many people need to be on each shift. The equipment was a bit of a bit of a challenge. For our efforts, she treated us to a lobster dinner at Red Lobster. We enjoyed the lobster and the wine (which I think is contributing to the insomnia).
The other reason for insomnia, is that she would like me to open the units. Now that is a job. I would have to move to Medicine Hat, a 3 hour drive from here. I have not agreed to do it. There are several factors to consider. It would be a challenge, the money would be nice but the stress would be something else. We will see.
Thank you for being there in the wee hours of the morning!

Hi, I hate nights like that. I think you just had so much on your mind that you could not sleep. Us women are not like men, they go to bed and can switch everything off in their heads, we go to bed and think way too much. I hope you get some rest today, hugs and much love Ann
I have so many night s like that,,,tv in the middle of the night helps...do lots of pondering before you accept that job..
We keep the \'home fires\' burning for one another to be sure.
((hugs))

Love and prayers for you to make the best decisions for you and your family. All of it does sound daunting.
With love,
Leda
Wow this is a hard decision to make. I understand why you have trouble sleeping. I wish you the best in whatever your decision is. Only you can know what is best for you. Sending love Marlene, Terry
That\'s a lot of things to be considering in the middle of the night! It would keep me tossing and turning too!
But, like you, it would be unusual for me these days. I used to have insomnia quite a bit, but since we lost Corrie, for the most part I sleep like a log for six or seven hours straight every night. Not sure why but I\'m glad you and I have this in common!
May you find just the right answer of peace to calm your thoughts and come to just the right decision for YOU!
Sending much love and big hugs of decision making ~ Debbie
My mom used to say that when she couldn\'t sleep, she \"couldn\'t turn the thinking machine off.\" That happens to me, too (and frequently after wine for some reason). Until I decide on a course of action (or inaction) I can feel pretty restless...pray very hard that the best decision for you and your continuing healing and good health be made! And, \"May the best decision win!\" Love, Donna
Marlene, you do have a big decision ahead of you. May you be granted the grace to know which way to go and may you sleep like a baby tonight. Love and hugs, Linda
You were a good friend (and your husband is a good one too!) to sort it all out. I love that kind of teamwork. You will know whether to do it and I\'m sure your friend will understand your choice either way! Oh what would we all do without each other on this journey?!?!?
Love, Sarah
You will know what is the next right step for you. Center in your heart where your truth lives and give yourself plenty of time. For me, if there is any sense of dread I have learned to listen to it.
What a job that must have been and together you got it done. Way to go and a lobster dinner too. :)
Hoping that a good night\'s rest is on the \"menu\" too. :)
Tight hugs, Joanie
I slept like a baby last night! We are going to fine tune things today. Still no decisions but I am okay and in no rush. Thanks for all the encouraging comments. I don\'t think I will have a lot of time to give hugs but know I am here and giving you a huge collective hug!
Your talents were being put to use and I\'m sorry that you didn\'t get the adequate rest you needed. Maybe you can catch up tonight. Wait and see what speaks to you concerning the job. There is alot to consider. Love to you. Robin
Let your heart guide you with this. You have a talent , you should use it. If it is only a long distance helping hand...
Wishing you peacefull nights
Hugs Penny
