Inhale the good sh*t, exhale the bullsh*t.
In a previous journal entry, I had talked about how there were alot of personal issues that my daughter was going through and she was currently seeing a therapist for. Her therapist always said we could split the sessions, but I never took her up on it because I really wanted my daughter to get her full attention. In the mess of these past few weeks, my daughter wanted me to help her bring up an issue she was having so she could discuss it with her therapist, as I was doing this the conversation leds to some of the roadblocks I was facing, and I ended up breaking down in her office crying. Needless to say, the first part of the session focused on me and the therapist helping me with some of my issues. The therapist actually let us go over 45 minutes just so my daughter could have some time with her as well at no extra charge. I definitely think it was much needed because after that session, I felt like a different person. I was able to handle some of my feelings towards my struggles much easier.
One of her "homework" assignments for me was to try to watch the movie "The Secret" every day for the next couple of weeks, even if I couldnt watch the whole thing, just watch it for 10-15 minutes to keep me in that mindset. For those who dont know "The Secret", it was released around 2008 (not sure the exact date - when all the new thought stuff was really popular). It is about the Law of Attraction and how our mental state and feelings attracks into existence what we are thinking. So if you are thinking about and worrying about debt all the time - you attract more debt, etc, etc....
So, I am going to start to change my mentality and thoughts and hopefully focus on feeling happier. I am going to focus on what I am thankful for and what I want to achieve in life and hopefully I can start turning myself around and not be consumed with my depression and the negativity I have been feeling over a failed relationship. So if you notice a change for the better in my journals and my mood, its because I am practicing "the secret". I know its easy to get off track and this will be hard at first... I think that is why she recommended I watch the movie everyday so I can focus on my goals and where I want to be.
So here is to vision boards and meditation and all that is unicorns and butterflies... (not making fun with the unicorns and butterflies remark - just my way of saying here's to being a happier person.)
