Infected

Went to the doctor this morning about the leg.  It's infected as expected.  She prescribed Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim, a generic of Bactrim and Mupirocin, a generic for Bactroban.  Hopefully this will clear it up.  Besides putting it in my nose, she wants me to put it on the worse parts of the leg.  She said I'd been doing a good job taking care of the leg.  I've been trying all kinds of things.  I washed it with bleach water.  Another time, I washed it with Hypercleanse.  For the last few days, I've been alternating antibiotic salve and softening lotion and wrapping it with ace bandages.  I put the bandages on to keep the salve and lotion from being rubbed off and it also cuts down on the weeping and swelling.  I leave the bandages off at night to let the leg "air out".  I learned all this when I went through my bouts with mrsa.  I asked her about another problem I've been having.  Since being laid off at Convergys, my right hand has been getting progressively weaker and today, it really hit me.  I had trouble filling out the forms.  I could barely write!  There have been signs,,,problems using a manual can opener,,,weakness in the arm,,,problems opening soda cans,,,lifting the seals on jars and coffee cans,,,holding a knife,,,problems typing,,,and opening prescription bottles. I thought it might be because of inactivity.  We'll get into that problem when I go back next week.  The way things are going, I'm seriously considering retiring or trying to go on disability.  Just don't know how much more of this I can take.  I don't like feeling helpless.
