Indiana Tom prepares to watch the big game...and other things
I went in for the followup sleep study on Friday to be assessed and fine tuned for a CPAP machne. It was a little weird trying to sleep with the mask on but the tech tells me that it will be easier as I get used to it. I suppose that she's right...especially since I won't be hooked up to all those electronic wires and devices needed for the overnight study. Everyone tells me that I will feel much better and will be healthier using it. I still don't like it though...but I'll do it. My wallyworld/mall walking is going well. This neurological thing that has affected my airway has also mildly affected my balance, so when I walk I frequently put out a hand for balance. It sort of makes me look like a dancng bear I suppose. Some people may think I'm drunk but I prefer to think that they admire my new graceful way of walking.I do enjoy the outings when I'm feeling well and the places are large enough that I can normally do it in blessed anonymity. The only problem is avoiding impulse buys. (Ohhhh, an automated back scratcher...and it has three settings..itchy...really itchy...and you better get more batteries because this could take awhile). I'm going to brave the crowds at the store this morning to lay in my supplies for the superbowl. I know I should have done this yesterday but that's too much like being organized. Besides where's the adventure in that? Now I can feel like Indiana Jones just by seeing if I can find a 5 lb. bag of chicken wings. It may not be a South American Idol but just try and find extra nacho cheese today! Talk about a quest! So while I try to find my whip and fedora before I head out, I hope that this finds everyone well.Happy Superbowl,Tom

Tom, talk to your doctor about physical therapy for gait imbalance and fall prevention. You do not want to fall and further complicate things. Maybe you need a cane for stability? Don\'t hit me for suggesting that.
Regarding the 2nd sleep study. Yes, I did not like it either. Finding the correct mask is paramount to your adjustment in it though. Good luck!!!
It could be a ssimple as your ears need cleaning..( No joke).. Your humor keeps me thinking life will be ok..
I have been checked out by an ENT and she said my ears were fine. They figured that the balance problem and the airway problem could be neurological origin given my former career field.
