In the aftermath of it all
Dear Journal,
Today is my first day back at work after being one of the victims of a crime. To make a long story short, my teenage daughter did not want to be a certain boy's girlfriend. She only wanted to be friends with him. He turned on her when she decided to be another guy's girlfriend. Saturday, this guy came to my house, wanting to get a shirt that my daughter had. I, of course, stood in front of my daughter, as I was not going to allow him into my house, or within a good distance of my daughter. She stated that she had burned it long ago (some type of thing teens do nowadays). He and his entourage left, mumbling under their breaths. That night, they followed my daughter and her boyfriend around town, and back to my house. She hurried and left with her boyfriend. she returned much later, and went to bed. Sunday morning, I woke up, and to my horror, 2 of my bedroom windows had been broken. Thank God, no one entered the home, and no one in the home was hurt. My goddaughter stated that she saw these guys outside of our house during the night, and in the early morning, right after she heard some shooting. She also saw the guy's car. She stated that she told my daughter, but she was so sleepy, she didn't really process the information. Anyway, the police came, and filed a report, and left. We were all jumpy that day, and the next. It does not feel good to be a prisoner in your home, and to be scared to go out of it, too.
People really need to learn how to handle rejection. If someone does not want you, let that person go! Why be so stupid, and risk being shot, or ending up in jail/prison? It's not worth it. Life can be so much better, if people would realize that.
