In the aftermath of it all - Part II
Dear Journal,
Last night, my daughter slept in my bedroom, beside my bed. She was still feeling uneasy about sleeping in the room by herself. When I was coming out of the bathroom this AM, to put on my clothes for work, I saw my husband lift his head, and look in her direction twice, to make sure that she was there. (My daughter says she saw him, and she pretended to be asleep). He then shook his head, as in disbelief. He didn't know I saw him. When I confronted him to ask him why he did that, he got upset, and asked why was she sleeping by the bed. He asked, "What, is she afraid to sleep in her own room right now???" I just shook my head in disbelief, and said, "You know what happened the other day!" He replied, "What happened?" "What's going on?". This is the stuff I absolutely hate about him. He knows what happened this weekend, and he knows she was the intended target, yet he wonders why she was sleeping there! I know he has a brain injury, but did he really forget that fast? Not only that, regardless of what happened or didn't happen, if my child feels like she is unable to safely go to sleep in her room or any other room in my house, or any other house, for that matter, she will sleep by me. No questions asked. I will do what it takes for my child to feel safe in her own home, until we can move. Furthermore, if it was his daughter, and she felt that way, I wouldn't even question it. I would tell her to come on, and sleep in our room. Children should be protected at all costs, and I will protect mine at all costs!
