In Need of Wisdom

Yesterday I called in sick to work because I had a pretty bad sore throat & could feel a cold coming on. With plenty of rest, I should be in much better shape to go in the next day.So at about 11am, I'm relaxing on the couch, doing my homework for Bible Study when I see & hear DH pull in the driveway. My first thought is, perhaps the foot he injured over the weekend was bothering him too much & he decided to come home; but that's really not like him, because he tends to "tough things out." I wondered what was wrong, but was ready to give the benefit of the doubt (because his foot was REALLY bad).So he comes in & asks what I'm doing there. I explained that I was sick & was glad that he bought OJ the other day. Then I asked what he was doing home.Him: "I quit!"Me: "What? Why? What happened?"So he proceeded to tell me how there were kids with unkempt hair & that the PTO moms were not helping get them tidied up, so he decided to comb the kid's hair himself. I guess the moms & teachers were upset that he was handling their kids (his slip of the tongue in his rage said "my kids"--interesting). So he said that he quit & walked out of there. He said if work called, not to answer the phone. Tomorrow, he said he'd go to the photo lab that offered him the part-time job this past summer & see if the position was still available. Then he proceeded to have lunch, pout & sulk. (Later on, his boss actually showed up at the door, so DH had to talk to him. I took that opportunity to let the dog out in the backyard to do his business. Shortly thereafter, he went back into the office for whatever reason.)OK: to me, it really doesn't matter "who was right & who was wrong". That's for him, the company & the school to hammer out. Not my problem. It also doesn't matter to me (maybe it should, I don't know) that his emotional maturity to handle frustrating situations is decreasing. He's nearly 50 & it's high time he knows how to get along with others. Again: his problem, not mine. It no longer matters to me that he's not been able to succeed in his field (or at any position, since he hasn't stuck with any). His success is on him.My problem is: I literally cannot afford to pay both his debts and his miscellaneous expenses. Even with unemployment income coming in this summer (which he now will not be getting, since he quit), I was constantly unable to make ends meet. He needs to find some way to support his expenses. (Heck, I'm not even asking that he take on the shared expenses, which is way more than fair.) If he can't do that, then...I don't know. All I know is that I can't do it.(Side note: and how can we realistically expect my son to get off his duff & go find a job with this example?)So, if he doesn't get cracking on the job search, this is the fire that I need to light under his behind.
