In memoriam 2014 seems to be a year of death//s's grandfather died and a died

2014 seems to be a year of a lot of death.  s was super close to his grandfather when he was a little kid.  When s was in his teens, the role he had with his grandfather appeared to reverse (it hadn't really, but the grandfather was ill sometimes and s was a stronger than ever before in his life, teenager).   s would be sent over to stay with his grandfather and "babysit" him.  since they enjoyed each other's company and always had, it wasn't much of a "job".   s even posted a meme with a photo of he and his grandfather watching tv and it has a big thumbs up photoshopped on top of it that reads:  babysitting this guy tonight and they are both grinning ear to ear.  doesn't matter what spending time together is called or why, its a win win situation when both parties want to be there and are enjoying having the company of the other person there.

a while ago there was a meme similar to this about a 2 year old boy who had befriended the 90 year old man who lived next door.  both "families" were against this, they wanted the 90 year old put in a nursing home (why if he is fine on his own?) and they wanted the 2 year old to have friends his own age (even though the 2 year old adored his best friend next door).   eventually the families won out.  the father of the 2 year old (the 2 year old was 5 by then) sold their house (i think he was jealous of the relationship to be honest) and the family of the 90 year old then sold his house and put him in a nursing home.  friendships like that aren't replaceable and both families are wrong.  the value of that friendship doesn't have a monetary value because is so precious and rare.  think bigger.

s had the same thing with his grandfather and lucky for both of them, their family was FOR it.  perhaps intrigued, but still in support of it without much questioning.

"Last night ," s writes, "one of the most important people in my life passed away.   I already miss you nonno!   It's going to be rough but what makes me happy is that you went without suffering and I had the chance to tell you how much I loved you.   Enjoy heaven and I hope to see you again one day.

similarly adored, one of the girls 21 year old daughters died of a freak accident at a club (or so i hear).  she wasn't sick.  she was in good health, enrolled in school, and friendly.

"None of us will even have a handle on this for many years to come... and I guess that's ok... because we'll all be there to help each other through it.Thanks very much to the hundreds of souls in attendance... and most especially, the dozens whose overwhelming outpouring of love came along with some of the beautiful photos you see in this video.Go ahead and disregard the weird zombie voices at the beginning of the lanterns... took it a little too far for iMovie I guess.   Just wanted to provide a little window into the Life Celebration for those who couldn't attend...
and a tiny window into the love-drenched life of our 'Tiny Dancer', for those who didn't have the pleasure to know her.Go forward... find new beauty and peace... but most importantly, be well.     No doubt, she would insist.

comes in threes, well here is another three, though i don\'t know her well....its almost scary to look at facebook and for the first time i understand older relatives and friends who avoid anything alumni because its too sad. kind of like how does that happen? her mother died in august. i knew her mother\'s sister much better than her mother....then i keep reading and her brother\'s wife died even before that and then there is a photo of a cousin i know through a mutual friend...life is like that and in one of the photos its all the girl cousins, that side of their family its only five (five left) not counting kids. she is showing a gig picture and the cousin comments that it looks exactly like the dead cousin and posts a photo. gosh that is creepy. short in memory on her side though. the other cousin ignores the comment. she forgets. go back 15 and 20 years and they were in litigation. very bad things had gone on there....but the mind can be selective, at least for this one person, the rest seemed stunned that she said it. could be early dimentia too. facebook can be creepy.
