In memoriam

The date, your date,  I will always remember.
Maybe is because you were such a beautiful baby.  I remember when they brought
you home amid all the mean comments: "He won't survive the night"  "His head is too
big"  "Freak".   I remember exactly how my heart jump of love when I saw you.
Thank you for teaching me about self reliance, real strength, dignity and courage.
You would had been 37 years old today, old man!
I would have still fight you for the last slice of pizza!
The date of your passing I have blocked out.  But the pain, the sadness is still there.
It's been more than 23 years, and at times a memory still hits me and I still miss you.
It angers me that you could have not live a better live, a healthier one, because of geography and economic status.
But more than anything, my beautiful brother I still miss you, I still think about you, and the love we share is still with me.
Thank you,
Your big sis
(My brother was born with spine bifida a genetic condition that sadly was poorly treated at the time.  He remains the best person I have ever known)
