In Delhi

Well we arrived in Delhi 24 hours ago - at 1:30 am (my sleep patterns are off so I am awake in the middle of the night again).  It was a long trip, but as long plane rides go, it could have been worse.
It was about 24 hours from the time we left home, until we arrived at the hotel.  We waited for an hour for our luggage to come on the carousel.
We are about 12 hours ahead of home so it is hard to find a time that is convenient to Skype home.
The driving here is as bad as it looks on TV!  Someone said, you don't look back, only forward - I still don't know why we didn't see dozens of fender benders yesterday!  Everyone cuts in front of everyone else - cars, trucks, tuk tuks, rickshaws, pedestrians and even carts pulled by oxen fill the streets.  We got quite adept at crossing streets dodging all of the above!  Tiina said she was told that coming here was described to her as sensory overload.  Joe and I had lived in China so were not as surprised (though even Joe admits that the driving and traffic are worse than China).  Tiina was getting quite agitated after a few hours in a very busy market.
No motorized vehicles are allowed in the narrow streets and alleys of the market.  There were guys hefting huge bags of rice etc to the kiosks.  We will try to post photos but for some reason, we get a message that says our photos are too large, even when they are not.  Anyway, we had to dodge guys with tremendous loads on their heads, Others in a hurry who pushed us - only a very few said they were sorry.  Tiina felt uncomfortable as men ogled her.  Like China, we were asked to pose with strangers for photos.  We stuck out like sore thumbs.
So we are having fun so far!  Our tour starts this evening!
Will post when I have insomnia.
Lisa, I felt you with us yesterday.  I miss you always and love you forever.  Mummy
