imaginary friends

i loved having pen friends growing up, but because the world is so oriented to e-communication these days, having old-fashioned snail mail paper and ink pen friends is harder and harder. sometimes, when i'm feeling particularly low and lonely, i pull out some nice stationery and write letters to people i make up in my head. i wish they were real though, others who have similar fears and blue moods and isolation issues. i want to be a listening friend as well as a commiserating one who can share my own feelings and doubts and mood swings without censure, because it's so hard to find people in RL who can understand what we experience. maybe i'll post a pen friend search request on the board. it'd be so nice for the imaginary to become real.

I like the idea of this. It would give someone something to look forward to. It seems to have more meaning to it. Someone whom wants to take the time, is someone worth while. Good idea.

you should do this. a few weeks ago i got a postcard from an old high school friend. it was so nice it reminded me of the little packages another friend and i used to send each other. so i dropped one in the mail for her today. there\'s nothing like exchanging a handwritten poem, a tiny painting, etc. & since i don\'t get out much, i love little surprises in the mailbox. i would imagine a lot of people feel that way
