I'm having the time of my life right now
2 weeks ago I turned down an offer because I'm not going to take advantage of a girl when she's been drinking and she thought that was the most manly thing anyone can do. Honestly, I just wanted her to have more respect for me. In the following week, I learned that I should have done that anyway since by giving in would just ruin our relationship eventually.
Friday last week after talking about it, we decided if we're feeling it at that moment then it's time. Friday last week after our pool night we made the best love I ever had. Everything seems perfect. Ok not perfect but you get the just of it. The first time was about as pathetic as it will ever be since neither one of us has been with anyone in nearly 3 years.
She went to the Dr and got on the pill which she is starting back on and we are actually having the time of our lives. Everything is still new and I'm having the best time of my life. I'm in love, I'm an adult and I'm able to do whatever the F I want and it's nothing like I ever thought 10 years ago. Lol. I still have to work and be responsible. Thought I'd be a famous drummer with no worries by now but hey, it can still happen.

I think waiting due to one of you guy's inebriation is the right thing to do. I agree this is the most manly thing to do. I would say high integrity, high character, and "doing the right thing". Whether she respects you or not, you get to respect yourself. That is the most important thing. To stay with one's values is the best thing we can do. Your value was to not take advantage of someone who is inebriated and frankly, we can't truly give permission if we are three sheets to the wind. This is being responsible. So I just applaud you and give you support. Sometimes, well often, women see sex as love, so you did the right thing all along. Good for you.
And... I am running on here but there is a huge difference between love making and having intercourse. Love making is two souls bonding. That is another reason to not initiate when the partner can't fully consent. I admire you, dude. My husband is like you in this area. I appreciate it.
