If it ain't one thang, it's another!

1.) Tim was sick for most of the first half of October.  It's happened before, no big deal.  Since 1997, he's had these occasional "spells":  he feels rotten, weak, runs a fever, and has cold chills for about 3 days.  Then he has a horrendous "night sweat" - absolutely soaks the bedclothes - then he's fine.  This time, it lasted 2 weeks, temp on day 8 was 102.8.  He was afraid to drive because of uncontrollable chills, so I drove him to the doctor.  First trip- emergency room:  second trip - doctor's office.  Blood tests showed low red cell and platelet count.  We have no idea what it is.  He goes to see a hematologist in November.  We have wondered in the past if Tim might have been exposed to something while he was in the military (malaria???).  He's travelled all over the place!  At least this time, he is concerned enough to see a doctor and follow through.

2.). The horse, Belle Starr is doing better.  I don't have to water her any more and she has gained her weight back.  She looks much better.  The ferrier is supposed to come work on her a little more next Friday.  I haven't seen Belle and Sparky since Wed.  It's been rainy and windy here, so I guess they are staying down past the tree line on the opposite side of the hill, where the hill breaks the wind.  I hope there's a photo of Rachel and Belle Starr below that I took a couple of years ago!

3.). I'm chuggin' along, dumb as ever.  I still feel a bit rough.  When I was sick for 6 weeks, I couldn't swallow my vitamins, so I got out of the habit of taking them.   I think that's part of why I just can't seem to get any strength back.  I also just keep pushing the edges.  Hey, cranberries are in season!  I had to make Winter Jam (cranberries, apples, and pineapple all mixed together)!  I have made 2 1/2 batches so far and plan to make more.  I also plan to make spiced cranberry jelly and maybe some plain cranberry jelly.  All that stuff is work - cook the fruit, crank it through the sieve.........   Gonna make me some Spiced-Pecan Pumpkin Butter, too!  I'm going to cheat on that - store bought canned pumpkin, baby!

4.)  Fall is my favorite season, but this year is a disappointment - not much color here.  (Could be a good think - not much temptation to get out and stumble around with the camera!). I hope it it prettier where all of my DS friends are.

A beautiful girl with a beautiful horse! I'm so sorry to hear that Tim was sick. I'm thinking malaria or Lyme. Those are the two things that come to mind. It sound awful. I know what you mean about trying to get pills down when you're sick. Your throat gets all swollen and it's hard to pass anything. Love you.

Hi there Nancy. You have had a bad run for a while so now it's your turn for some easy days. It usually goes that way. We struggle through the dark stormy days and then out comes the sunshine again.Now..I love the daughter and horse photo.Very nice. However I'm not so keen on that dirty big creepy spider. Lol!! Hope Tim gets better soon.He has been doing it hard and wearing out my friend too. Life is never smooth sailing. Happiness and distress as well. We have to have both it seems. Hang in there my friend. Happy jamming. Glad Belle is heaps better. Hope Tim gets a diagnosis. You rest up and take it easy. Lots of love Di xo

A beautiful picture, Nancy. I'm glad Belle Star is doing better and less work for you as well. I'm sorry to hear Tim is feeling sick - if he's like my husband, he must be feeling terrible in order to agree to see a doctor. I'll be praying for both of you - you've had a rough year!
