I wish they would just all get over it !!
Seems like my family is stuck, they can't move on from the past and let things go, just for the sake of being able to get along. My youngest is still upset with Ryan, who was bit by our German Shepard. Ryan wants to know why I haven't got a kennel ready for our dog so they can come over, my d.i.l. called to let me know how disapointed she was that they all can't come here whenever they want and bring the 2 yr. old to play at Grandma's house. My oldest son is trying to detox from his beer addiction and has so many problems of his own !! Meanwhile my youngest son who lives here is upset with me for asking him to help me keep the dog off Ryan, just in case the dog decides to bite him again. He is still upset with his brother about wanting to shoot the dog for attacking him. Ryan said "Dad would have killed the dog for biteing him again". Well, his Dad is not here to decide that for me and my youngest son loves the dog. I am worn out from all the emotions that are flying in my face, I don't need this going on. It just doesn't seem to be an end to it all !! I want to put up a wall with a "do not disturb" sign on the door !! No matter what I do someone is going to be unhappy with me. I don't think they realize what they do to me with all this B.S.!!!

Ruthanne, my heart breaks for you. Is this not the typical role a mother gets dragged into. Always trying to please everyone but ourselves. Sounds like everyone needs a \"time out\". My dogs are part of my family and always have been. I would guess your dog is trying to fill a role as protector and probably somewhat lost without your husband here. But to lay the burden on you is so unfair when all you are trying to do is find peace. Could it be there is some jealousy between your oldest son toward your youngest? Have you tried buying a muzzle? At least for now and let Ryan spend time with the dog and giving him treats and bonding with him? I understand your son\'s fear of the dog hurting the little one. Dogs can be intimidating and no dog can ever be truly trusted, they are dogs. But to put this burden on you is unacceptable. I have two sons and the only thing they have in common is the same parents. But when I hear one complaining about the other over who knows what, I ask the complainer to look in the mirror and tell me if they see perfection. Usually snaps them back to reality. So yes dear mom, it is up to you to set the rules. It is your home and you are the boss. And you need to refuse to comply with anyones wishes but your own.Huge hugs to you, Michele
