I WIll Overcome

After a lifetime of listening to top 40 and hard rock music, a few years ago, I began listening to Christian music.  Not knowing any of the artists, I began purchasing the WOW series of CD's...which comes out every year and contains that year's greatest hits in Christian Music.  In listening to these CD's, I began to develop some favorite artists.  First there was MercyMe, then SonicFlood, then Matt Redman. However, there as this one song by a guy named Charlie Hall, that always stuck with me.  After a while, a friend introduced me to the Passion series of CD's...which is a group of various Christian artists who tour during teh summer months.  Through these CD's I was introduced to more of Chrlie Hall's music, for he along with Chris Tomlin and Matt Redman is one of the main Passion artists. Then I began purchasing some of Charlie Hall's solo CD's and, as they say, the rest is history.  Over the past year, Charlie's music has become a mainstay in my CD player.  His music is so uplifting that it is hard to describe.  I can be as low as I can get, and when I pop in a Charlei Hall CD, I am lifted to a better mood. In any case, one of Charlie Hall's song, named "I Will Overcome" has become a very special and inspirational song for me.  The song was initially released on his 1997 "Joel's Window" album.  Then on his 2003 "On the Road to Beautiful" album, he re-released the song with additional lyrics. Thus, if you find that music is one of the ways you try to maintain some sense, gain some encouragement, calm some fears, inspire to greatness, etc. than I would suggest listening to Charlie Hall's music sometimes. Below are the lyrics to "I Will Overcome".  Although the lyrics are a good "read" and inspirational in themselves, they also are more meaningful to me when put to music. ******************************************************************* I Will Overcome - Charlie Hall And I can see that my hands are trembling, I can see that my legs are weakI can see that my head is spinning, but I will overcomeAnd I know that my heart is hurting, And I know that my soul it achesAnd I know that it seems I'm failing, but I will overcome, yeahChorus:O Lord I'm strong in You, O Lord I am wise in YouO Lord I can see in You, so I will overcomeO Lord I'm loved by You, O Lord I am free in youO Lord I'm complete in YouSo I will overcome, I will overcome, I will overcomeBridge:God listen to me shout, I'm so far from anywhere and I'm calling outLead me, lead me to the rock that is higher than IYou're my breath, You're my breath, You're my very lifeInfinite, Holy King meets weak and frail Christ in meAnd I will overcome not by my strength but by Your grace and love
